FAQ
What dark secrets do Hollywood have?
Hollywood is full secret societies. Some are cult-like groups where members follow strict rules and rituals, while others are simply clubs for those who share common interests.
There are also other, more evil organizations that control large parts of the industry. Companies such as the MPAA, which determines film ratings, or the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), that set music licensing fees, are examples of these.
Numerous unions or guilds also represent producers, writers, actors, etc. These large corporations control the majority of major film studios and television networks.
It is obvious that, no matter how secretive or obtuse a group appears, someone knows exactly what they do. However, we shouldn't fear them.
Instead, embrace them. Because they can help us make better decisions.
They tell us what movies will likely succeed, what songs will be popular, and what books will best sell.
They help us make decisions about what we will buy, watch, listen to, or read.
Because we can trust them, we can ignore their advice when it conflicts with our tastes.
They are more powerful than ever because we chose to ignore them. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.
You are free to ignore their messages if that bothers you.
Let's now look at some lesser-known, but still very real Hollywood secret organizations.
You can see why they are so vital.
How does your brain control your body's functions?
The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. The brain controls everything that happens in your body. It tells the stomach to digest food, and the lungs to breath air. It also tells your legs and arms to move.
Your brain consists of billions of nerve cells connected in groups called neurons. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Every neuron has a cell wall around its nucleus. The cell membrane houses channels that allow ions, such as potassium and sodium, to enter and exit the cells. Ion movement creates the electric charge that causes the neuron to fire.
Neurotransmitters are chemicals released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. In turn, the second neuron also fires.
Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds to the receptors on the postsynaptic neural cell, which triggers the firing of that neuron.
They are vital for the communication between nerve cells. They coordinate activity between the different parts of your brain.
Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?
According to the United Nations the average person creates more than 2.5 lbs of waste daily. That adds up over 25 billion kilos of garbage every year.
Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? It goes to the United States, where most of it is exported. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. His name is Mike Sexton. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He reports back to us about the next steps.
Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.
He stated that he fell in love with the product.
His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove along the road and saw this structure. He pulled over and went in. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just a total mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There wasn't any trash anywhere."
What is the explanation? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.
It can happen hundreds of thousands of times per week. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The owner eventually abandons the vehicle.
Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.
The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some end up in rivers and oceans, while others end up in fish's stomachs.
Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.
