most kept secrets

Among the hundreds of podcasts on the National Public Radio (NPR) docket, there is one that stands out from the crowd. It is the name of a podcast that covers a wide variety of topics including biology, psychology, and medicine, albeit in a slightly unorthodox manner. The program's main purpose is to allow the public to see the mind of an expert in a particular subject.

Shankar Vedantam (a well-known scientist/entrepreneur) produced the program. It is now available on hundreds of public radio stations across the nation. Vedantam is an ex-reporter at The Washington Post. Recently, Vedantam left the newsroom in order to start his own independent production firm. Vedantam's new gig allows him to explore subjects that were otherwise impossible for him as a freelancer.

The show was produced with a modest budget, but it certainly did not skimp on the science, and the resulting show is a must-listen for discerning listeners. The show was a hit and has been ranked in the Top 25 of NPR's most downloaded podcasts. Hidden Brain has nearly three million downloads. It is difficult to believe that it didn't become a weekly staple on NPR's program schedule. After a three year absence, the show has returned as a regular program. The show's return is expected to be very welcome. The podcast's biggest challenge will be finding new material to cover. The Hidden Brain listeners have the good fortune to find Vedantam a master of all trades. The podcast's content is as eclectic and diverse as its subject material.

Vedantam is also a science lover and has been featured on the podcast. He co-founded a production company, has written two books on neuroscience, and published some research papers. Vedantam is a strong believer in science. The show's greatest accomplishment was establishing a standard quality in public broadcasting's otherwise murky waters. The show's best days may yet come, we can only hope.

FAQ

Why do actors get blacklisted?

Actors are more likely to be rejected than writers. An actor will probably be rejected quite often. However, it doesn't really matter as you will eventually meet someone who is truly your love.

Actors are usually very talented, meaning they can make a living almost anywhere. Actors don't really care about making money. Actors love acting and storytelling. It's likely that you will be acting if your passion is acting.

It is possible to be told that you are not suitable for the role, or that you are too old or too young. Or you might audition for a movie and lose out to another person. It happens all the time.

Once you've been cast you might also be subject to criticism. You may be told that your makeup is too heavy or you are not worthy of wearing it. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.

Sometimes it's because you play a character that's not realistic or authentic. Perhaps you play a homosexual man and everyone thinks that you're straight. Perhaps you play a woman that is supposed to be strong but who cries a lot.

Maybe you are asked to change your vocal chords. Sometimes, they want you to sound more like a man or a woman. Most times, though, they want you to sound better.

The best way to deal with these criticisms is to ignore them. Actors feel like they've failed when told they did wrong. They haven't done any wrong.

They were not born with the talent that would make them famous. They may not fit the bill sometimes, no mater how hard they try.

There are lots of reasons why an actor could get blacklisted. Some people don't like actors. Others think that actors are lazy. Others think actors are lazy.

No matter what the reason, you won't be blacklisted if your persistence persists. There are many opportunities for you to find your role.

As long as you keep trying, you'll eventually succeed.

What is the most secretive place in the world, and why?

The answer to that question may shock you. This may make you feel uncomfortable as it challenges your perception of reality and the way we live. But there is a reason why this place exists. And it is not what you would expect.

The City of God was its name by the ancient Greeks. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.

It's known in India as Kashi (Kashmir). It is also called Novgorod in Russia.

Here in America, however, it is called The Village That Disappeared.

A small community of 1200 people in western New York State vanished. A road sign pointing to the former location of the town was all that was left, except for a few bodies and cars.

The little village vanished, with no trace of its existence. Some say it was swallowed up by the Earth. Others believe it was destroyed by a meteorite. Some believe that it was taken by aliens.

The people of this once-thriving community, however, are positive that the town won't disappear forever. They had just moved from one town to the other.

A website is available to track the disappearance and recovery of Zugspitz, which was lost in the Great Depression.

You might be wondering where this town went. It's in Switzerland, actually!

Zugspitze is situated on the border between Germany und Austria. A huge lake, Lake Zugspitze, is located just beyond the summit.

It has always fascinated my that so many towns have disappeared but others still exist. Why is it that some disappear while others live on? I decided to investigate.

I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What makes a town disappear? How can a town disappear from existence?

It turned out that there are many theories about disappearing towns. One theory says that a town disappears when all the buildings are demolished. Another theory holds that the town simply relocates to another location. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.

No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video examines the past and present status of these areas.

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

The brain communicates with other organs to ensure their cooperation. Everything that happens within your body is controlled by the brain. It tells your stomach how to digest food and your lungs how to inhale oxygen; it also tells your arms, legs and feet to move.

Your brain is made up of billions upon billions of nerve cells that are connected together in groups called neuronal groups. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Every neuron has an outer cell membrane that surrounds its nucleus. Inside the membrane are channels that allow ions such as sodium and potassium to enter and leave the cell. Ion movement is what causes the neurons to fire.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters are able to bind to receptors in the second neuron. This opens ion channels that allow ions to flow in and out. As a result, the second neuron fires too.

When another neuron sends an impulse to the presynaptic neural cell, neurotransmitter is released. The impulse travels along the synaptic pathway that connects both neurons. The transmitter binds directly to the receptors in the postsynaptic nervous neuron, and triggers the firing.

The nervous system relies on neurotransmitters for communication. They also help coordinate activity between different parts of the brain.

Have you ever wondered what amount of trash is generated each day worldwide?

According to the United Nations the average person creates more than 2.5 lbs of waste daily. That adds up over 25 billion kilos of garbage every year.

Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. His name is Mike Sexton. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He reports back to us about the next steps.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. "We've got a lot of fun," he told CNN. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.

He stated, "I just fell in Love with It."

His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the road and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. "It was just a total mess. But it had been cleaned before he arrived. There wasn't any trash."

This begs the question: Why? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.

This can happen hundreds of times a week. This can happen hundreds of times a week.Eventually, the truck becomes so overloaded with junk that it stops running. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.

However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.

Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Some end up in rivers and oceans, while others end up in fish's stomachs.

Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. Experts warn that if we continue to go the same way, we won't make it. However, scientists and most people aren't worried.

How To

Hollywood scandals that stunned the world

Nothing is more shocking than seeing someone famous for wrong reasons. There's nothing more shocking than watching someone fall from grace.

The best part is seeing how an industry reacts to its mistakes. Many celebrities have used alcohol and drugs in excess. Some even died young because of it.

The worst part about this is that these same stars come out with their problems and are ridiculed by everyone. We found ourselves in that situation last week.

Heath Ledger died after a long, successful career. He succumbed after taking too many prescription medications. After a brief struggle with death, he died.

His friends and family struggled to accept the loss of his son, while the media blasted him openly.

Heath was once thought to be one the greatest actors of all time. His performances in Brokeback Mountain earned Heath two Academy Award nominations.

Heath, in addition to acting, also wrote and directed films such as A Knight's Tale (Monster's Ball) and Iron Man (3).

Hollywood loved Heath. However, he quickly grew too large. He started to use drugs and drink heavily. He eventually went to rehab and was clean.

After he had gotten sober, he decided to make amends. He produced a documentary called Room 237 that documented the making process of The Shining. The film was originally supposed to be released in this year's theaters, but it will not make its way into the cinemas until next year.

Heath attempted to get into Hollywood every time. In fact, Heath was twice arrested on drug charges.

We don't believe Heath should have been allowed to go back into the entertainment industry. But it would have been nice to get some help before things spiralled out of control.

We hope Heath’s story can be an example to other people who believe they can still have it all.
