Amongst the many strange aspects of our bodies, some are downright spooky. Let's explore some of more fascinating and obscure functions found in the human body.
The human heart is capable of beating out a whopping 100,000 times a day. This might not seem like much, but consider this: if your heart stopped beating every second for a day, you would die. You can also see blood squirting 30 feet away.
The human eye measures more than five hundred thousand million pixels. This is nearly half a million times larger than an average cellphone. Thanks to the cilia that clings to the eyeball, a human eye may also grow as big as a football.
The human eye can also produce enough light to lighten a small area. The human body has approximately 100,000 miles worth of blood vessels. These arteries carry oxygen from blood to tissues.

A whole system is called the "diving reflex", which shuts down certain bodily functions when we are submerged in water. The pupil in our eyes expands by approximately 45% when we are able to see something pleasing.
We also have an appendix. If left untreated, this organ can become infected. In fact, you can remove as much of your liver as you like.
The human body has many wonders. It is rich in enough fat to make seven bars worth of soap. It is home to many millions of bacteria. The skin is the largest part of the human body. It's oily and has over 1000 species.
The human body has the ability to perform many strange and mundane tasks. The ominous is one example. We can blink 10 million time per year. There are many things going on inside the mouth. In addition to the obvious functions mentioned above, your mouth also has other functions such as swallowing and breathing.
There's also the toilet. Besides being the largest and most important part of the bathroom, the toilet is also the main source of reading material in the average home. The average person drinks 20,000 gallons of water during their lifetime.

The human body also has a "sneezing function". If you sneeze excessively, it can fracture a bone. The human nose is also home to more than 8,000 taste buds. More than one hundred taste buds are found in the tongue.
The human brain generates more energy than it takes to light a bulb. And if you don't count the ovaries, the human body is capable of producing 350,000 joules of energy per hour. This is more than enough to make a light bulb blink its eyes.
Some other fascinating facts about human bodies include our "diving", reflex, eyes being the largest organ of our bodies and the fact that our bodies can fly. People also have more vehicles on the road than cars. But there are more sea crayfish than humans so it's safe say that the human body has more power than most people realize.
FAQ
Is there any Hollywood blacklist for actors?
There is a Hollywood blacklist.
But the list isn't made public. The names are not known to us. But here's why it matters.
The secret reason is that directors and actors who are on the blacklist would not be able to find employment. So they'd go out of business, which means that the studios would lose money. They would also cut back on their spending on movies. That would reduce the opportunities for blacklisted filmmakers. They could go bankrupt.
Which could ultimately result in more victims.
In short, when someone tries to make an oscar winning movie, they might be asked to sign a contract saying they won't speak publicly against their employers. For any producer or director that wants to be nominated, the same applies.
You hear stories of directors being pressured to remove scenes from films. Directors might threaten to leave projects that don't reflect their vision.
This is why Hollywood has a blacklist. If you are negative about your employer, you'll most likely go unemployed. And that's not good for anyone.
Many people have been wrongly accused. And they've had to fight to clear their name.
This kind of thing must stop before it can happen again. Everybody should be able to freely express themselves.
We need to get rid of Hollywood's blacklist.
What is the most secretive town in the world?
The answer to that question may shock you. This may make you feel uncomfortable as it challenges your perception of reality and the way we live. There is a reason this place exists and it's not as you might expect.
It was also called the City of God in ancient Greek. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.
It's also known as Kashi (Kashmir) in India. It is also called Novgorod in Russia.
Here in America, however, it is called The Village That Disappeared.
One small community in western New York State with 1,200 residents vanished without a trace. No bodies, cars, houses, nothing was left behind except a road sign pointing to its former location.
This tiny town vanished without any trace. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Some claim it was destroyed by a meteorite impact. Others claim it was taken away by aliens.
Despite what may have happened, the people who lived in this once-thriving area are confident that their town will not be lost forever. They had just relocated to another town.
There's even a website that tracks the disappearances and recoveries of Zugspitz.
The question is, where did this place go? It's in Switzerland.
Zugspitze is located on the border between Germany and Austria. Lake Zugspitze can be found just beyond the summit.
It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. Is it possible that some towns disappear and others are preserved? I decided that I would investigate.
I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What is the secret to a town's disappearance? What makes a place disappear?
It turns out that there are several theories about the phenomenon of vanishing towns. One theory is that a city disappears after all buildings have been demolished. Another theory states that the town simply moves to another location. A third theory holds that the town did not exist.
Although theories may be a bit speculative, it is a fact that numerous towns have been destroyed by the elements. This video examines both the history and current status.
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
The United Nations estimates that the average person generates more than 2.5 pounds of waste each day. This adds up to over 25 million pounds of garbage annually!
Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. Mike Sexton is his real name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.
Sexton said he enjoys his job. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.
"I just fell in love with it," he said.
His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He saw the building as he drove down the road. He stopped and pulled up, then he went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. "Then he took out everything and began to fill up the truck. There were tires, rags. furniture, mattresses. boxes, bottles, cans. It was a complete mess. But it was cleaned out before he came. There wasn’t trash everywhere."
Why did this happen? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.
Now, because of the way the law works, once a container reaches its destination, it cannot be opened. So no matter how often someone takes something out of it, the thing will never be emptied.Every time the truck comes by, it has to start over again. It can happen hundreds of time per week. Eventually, the truck is so full of junk it stops running. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.
Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Some of these plastics end up in rivers or oceans.
Experts warn that if there is no change, the world could soon be facing a food shortage. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.
