Life in North Korea is often difficult, especially during the cold winter months. People must burn coal to stay warm, which puts them at risk of respiratory problems. Temperatures can also drop to as low as -13degC in the day. Children used to sleep on railroad tracks in the past to keep their feet from freezing. If their legs fell on the rails, they would be dismembered by a passing train.

In July 2020 the U.S. Army reported North Korea could possess 60 nuclear weapons, and six nuclear weapons each year. Army Gen. Mark Milley (Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) stated that North Korea has the technical capability to produce such weapons in May 2021.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.
He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the road and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were tires, rags. furniture, mattresses. boxes, bottles, cans. It was a complete mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.
Why did this happen? The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton said that people would bring their household items to the building and then leave empty containers behind.
