FAQ

How does the brain control the functions of your body?

To ensure that they work together, messages are sent by the brain to other organs. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.

Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Action potentials on Axons are an electrical signal that neurons send to each other. Each neuron has a cell membrane surrounding its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. Ion movement is what causes the neurons to fire.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. As a result, second neuron fires as well.

When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. An impulse travels along a synapse that connects the two neurons. The transmitter binds to the receptors on the postsynaptic neural cell, which triggers the firing of that neuron.

They are vital for the communication between nerve cells. They also coordinate activity between different brain parts.

Here are 5 fascinating facts about the liver

The liver is responsible to detoxify toxins and store vitamins and minerals. It helps to regulate blood pressure and keep our bodies temperature stable.

We hear it all the time: "I feel sluggish today" or "my head feels heavy". These symptoms could be signs of liver problems.

You may notice symptoms such as dark urine, yellowing skin and fatigue. These aren’t the only warning signs. If you are experiencing any of these signs, it is important to consult your doctor right away.

The liver is an important organ. It plays a role in detoxification, digestion, metabolism, immunity, and reproduction.

  1. The average adult human liver weighs approximately 1,400 grams.
  2. At birth, the liver of a baby can be half as big as an adult's. It becomes about four times more large by the age of three than an infant's liver.
  3. The liver is located just below the rib cage on the left side of the abdomen.
  4. The liver is divided into 16 major lobes. However, there are many smaller lobules that are within these lobes.
  5. There are approximately 10,000,000 red blood cells in the liver.

What is the most secretive location in the entire world?

This question might surprise you. It might even make you uncomfortable because it challenges our perception of reality and how we live. But there is a reason why this place exists. And it is not what you would expect.

It was known as the City of God to the ancient Greeks. It was also known as the City of Destruction according to the Bible.

It's also known as Kashi (Kashmir) in India. It's known in Russia as Novgorod.

Here in America, however, it is called The Village That Disappeared.

A small community of 1200 people in western New York State vanished. It was abandoned without any remains, including no bodies, cars, or houses. The only thing that survived was a road sign, which pointed to its former location.

This little town disappeared, leaving no clues about where it went or when. Some say it was swallowed up by the Earth. Others believe it was destroyed by a meteorite. Others believe that aliens took it.

The residents of this once prosperous community believe that whatever happened, their town is not gone forever. They had just relocated to another town.

Even a website exists to help track down the disappearances of the lost city Zugspitz.

So where is this town? It's actually in Switzerland!

The border of Austria and Germany is at Zugspitze. The lake Lake Zugspitze is just beyond the mountain's summit.

It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. What is the difference between some towns that disappear and others that survive? I decided to investigate.

I wanted to know more about the mysterious disappearing towns. What is the secret to a town's disappearance? How can one place become extinct?

There are several theories behind the disappearing of towns. One theory is that a city disappears after all buildings have been demolished. Another theory is that the town moves to another place. Another theory suggests that the town has never existed.

Theories aside, the fact remains that dozens of towns around the globe have been swallowed up by the ground. This video examines the history and current status of these places.

Have you ever wondered what amount of trash is generated each day worldwide?

According to the United Nations the average person creates more than 2.5 lbs of waste daily. That adds up over 25 billion kilos of garbage every year.

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. Mike Sexton is his nickname. He is the founder of Waste Watchers. He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.

Sexton claims he is very satisfied with his job. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton started following truck drivers nearly 20 years ago.

He said, "I fell in love with it."

His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He drove along the road and saw this structure. He backed up and entered the building. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just a total mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.

What is the explanation? This particular spot used to be a recycling center. People would drive there to recycle their trash. "They'd bring their household items and take them to this building," Sexton explained. And after they finished, they would leave the empty containers behind.

It can happen hundreds of thousands of times per week. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.

Trash is not the only problem our planet faces.

Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts warn that if there is no change, the world could soon be facing a food shortage. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.

American history: Secret societies and clubs

American History has many secret societies and clubs that are fascinating. Their mystery is just one reason. A second reason is their impact on society.

Secret societies and clubs have been used throughout America’s history in order to promote ideas that might otherwise be considered taboo. These ideas include antisemitism or racism. These groups also promoted political ideologies such communism, socialism, and other socialist ideas.

The Ku Klux Klan is America's most well-known organization. This group was formed in 1865 after the Civil War ended. Its purpose was to protect white men from African Americans.

The Knights Templar and Freemasons were also created during this time. These groups had the same goals and beliefs.

Another interesting aspect of secret society membership is that it was not only for males. However, some women belonged to these groups. These women included Emma Goldman (Margaret Sanger) and Susan B Anthony.

Not only the above mentioned groups, but also other secret societies didn't share the same ideals. The Order of Skull & Bones for instance was founded in 1832. Their goal was the creation of an elite class in the United States.
