Although many civilizations were present in the ancient world's past, many have since vanished. Often, the lost cities are buried below the earth and no one knows where they are. Other times, they are abandoned due to a natural disaster or war. These ancient cities were vital for the human race, regardless of their origin.
Dwarves. Elves. Titans. Fairies once lived in these cities. The buildings of the destroyed city became decrepit after their inhabitants died or were moved to new cities. These buildings now have valuable loot and are protected by parasites.
One of the most famous lost cities in the world is Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu was built by the Incas around the beginning of the sixteenth century. However, it was abandoned many centuries later. It was unknown for over 100 years. Hiram, a Hawaiian historian discovered it again in 1911. It is located at 2,430 meters above the sea level. The site is protected by agricultural terraces and natural springs.
Another of the lost cities is Caral, which is located in the Supe Valley of Peru. This location is believed to have been used for human settlement between 2600 BC (and 2000 BC). There are six large platform mounds that surround the huge plaza. Modern estimates suggest that the population ranges from 40,000 to 50,000.
Cuzco and El Dorado are just a few of the other lost cities in South America. While these cities are not confirmed, archeologists have been able to find evidence of their existence. In the 1990s, a short British soap opera was based on the story of El Dorado.
Ciudad Perdida was once a magnificent city. It is located in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (Colombia), and was reconstructed during the 1980s. Its architecture featured a circular plaza as well as a network paved roads. But the Spanish conquest left the city untouched. Some of its surviving inhabitants kept contact with its former inhabitants. Others identified themselves with Pompeiiians.
There have been many other ancient cities. These sites are often lost in time and rediscovered many decades or centuries later. These sites are also a great educational resource for history buffs.

FAQ
Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?
According to the United Nations, the average person produces over 2.5 pounds of daily waste. That adds up to over 25 billion pounds of garbage per year!
Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his full name. He is the founder of Waste Watchers. He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.
Sexton said he enjoys his job. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.
He said, "I fell in love with it."
His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the road to see this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was just an absolute mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There wasn't any trash anywhere."
What is the explanation? This particular spot used to be a recycling center. People would drive there to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.
This can happen hundreds of times a week. It can happen hundreds of time per week. Eventually, the truck is so full of junk it stops running. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.
But, this isn't the only problem that our planet is facing.
These tiny plastic particles make up the majority of the particles. Some end up in incinerators or landfills. Others end up in rivers, oceans or the stomachss of fish.
Experts warn that the world may soon face a shortage of food if we don't make any changes. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.
What dark secrets can Hollywood keep from you?
Hollywood is filled secret societies. Some secret societies are cultlike groups that have strict rules and rituals. Other clubs are for people who share common interests.
Some of the most powerful organizations in the industry are even more dangerous. These include companies such as the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), which sets film ratings, and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), which sets music licensing fees.
Numerous unions or guilds also represent producers, writers, actors, etc. Large corporations own most major studios and networks of television.
It doesn't matter how secretive a group might seem, someone somewhere knows what they are doing. We shouldn't fear these people.
Instead, embrace them. Because they help us make better choices.
These experts tell us which movies are most likely to succeed, which songs will be in demand, and what books will sell the best.
In short, they help us decide what we'll buy, watch, read, and listen to.
We can trust our advisors and ignore advice that isn't in accord with our tastes.
Because we have chosen to ignore their power, they are even more powerful. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.
You are free to ignore their messages if that bothers you.
Let's take a closer look at some of the less-known, yet still very real Hollywood secret clubs.
And see why they're so important.
Why do actors end up on the blacklist?
If you are an actor, you will get more rejection than if you are a writer. An actor will probably be rejected quite often. It doesn't matter if you get rejected a lot because eventually you'll meet someone you love.
Actors are typically very talented and can earn a living virtually anywhere. Most actors don't care about making money. Actors enjoy acting and telling stories. If you are an actor, you will most likely put yourself out there.
Sometimes, auditions are cancelled because you are either too young or too old for the job. Or, you could lose out on a role in a movie. This happens all the time.
You may be criticised once your casting is complete. People will tell you that you look terrible or shouldn't be wearing makeup. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.
Sometimes it's because you play a character that's not realistic or authentic. Maybe you play a gay man, and everyone thinks you're straight. You could also play a woman with a tendency to cry a lot, even though she's supposed to be tough.
You might be asked to change the sound of your voice. Sometimes, they want you to sound more like a man or a woman. They usually want you sound better.
These criticisms should be ignored. Actors feel like they've failed when told they did wrong. They haven't done any wrong.
They were not born with the talent that would make them famous. They may not fit the bill sometimes, no mater how hard they try.
There are many reasons an actor might be blacklisted. Some people don't like actors. Others think that actors are lazy. Still, others say that actors are cheaters.
No matter what the reason, you won't be blacklisted if your persistence persists. There are many roles available, and you will find them.
If you persevere, you will eventually succeed.
Which is the most secretive city in the world?
It may surprise you to hear the answer. It could even make you uncomfortable, because it challenges how reality is perceived and lived. However, there's a reason for this place to exist. It's not what we would expect.
The City of God was its name by the ancient Greeks. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.
In India, it's called Kashi (Kashmir). It's known in Russia as Novgorod.
But here in America, it goes by another name - The Town That Disappeared.
One small community in western New York State with 1,200 residents vanished without a trace. A road sign pointing to the former location of the town was all that was left, except for a few bodies and cars.
This tiny community disappeared without leaving any clues as to where it went or when. Some believe it was swallowed by the earth. Others say it was destroyed in a meteorite collision. Others claim it was taken away by aliens.
The people of this once-thriving community, however, are positive that the town won't disappear forever. They had just moved to a new town.
Even a website exists to help track down the disappearances of the lost city Zugspitz.
So, where exactly did this town go? It's in Switzerland.
You can find Zugspitze at the border of Austria and Germany. Lake Zugspitze can be found just beyond the summit.
I have always been fascinated by the fact that so many towns have vanished, but some remain. Why do some disappear while others survive? I decided to investigate.
I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What is the secret to a town's disappearance? How can one place vanish from existence?
There are several theories behind the disappearing of towns. One theory suggests that a community disappears when all of its buildings are removed. Another theory states that the town simply moves to another location. A third theory claims that the town never existed at all.
No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video examines both the history and current status.
