FAQ

Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?

Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.

Why do we find this place so intriguing? Because it is unlike anything else on Earth.

It is very remote and isolated. This site has more to it than meets your eye.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica, The South Pole

Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some say it means "land on ice." Others think it comes from Greek mythology.

Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. This is why the word "antarctic" was chosen.

Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would mean that the land was turned away by the sun.

Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.

It is also the lowest, windiest continent, driest, and highest. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.

Here, 90 percent live of all species of living things. There are about 50% of the world's animal, plant and plant species.

What is the secret to Antarctica's unique environment? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.

This creates large masses of ice that float above the ground.

These glaciers cover more than 80% of the continent. They're getting bigger every year.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet has grown 60 feet in the past 60 years.

If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They suggest that rising temperatures could cause ice sheet melt faster, leading to floods that flush out toxic chemicals from soil and bodies.

Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist of actors?

There is an Hollywood blacklist.

However, the list isn’t public. As far as we know, the names aren't even known. Here's why this matters.

The secret reason is that directors and actors who are on the blacklist would not be able to find employment. They would go out of business which would mean that studios would lose their money. This would mean that they would cut back on movie production. This would lead to fewer opportunities and less money for blacklisted directors. Which would lead them to go bankrupt.

This could eventually lead to more victims.

In other words, if someone is trying to make an Oscar winning movie, they might have to sign a contract that says they won't speak openly against their employers. Any director or producer who would like to be nominated for an award is subject to the same rules.

You hear stories of directors being pressured to remove scenes from films. Directors may threaten to quit projects that don’t align with their vision.

This is the reason there is a Hollywood blacklist. Negative comments about your employer will most likely lead to you being unemployed. It's not good for anyone.

The problem is that many people have been falsely accused. They've had the toil to clear their name.

This is unacceptable behavior and must be stopped. It is essential that everyone has the freedom to express their opinions.

Also, we must take down the Hollywood blacklist.

Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?

The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. It then gets dumped in foreign countries, polluting their ecosystems. However, now we know where all that trash goes. Mike Sexton is his name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.

Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.

"It's all I felt," he stated.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the road to see this building. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were two large roll-off containers full of stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. "Then he took out everything and began to fill up the truck. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. It was a complete mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was no trash."

Why did this happen? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.

You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. It could happen hundreds of thousands of times a week. The truck eventually stops running because it has become so jammed with junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.

Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.

These tiny plastic particles make up the majority of the particles. Some end up in incinerators or landfills. Some of these plastics end up in rivers or oceans.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.
