FAQ

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

To ensure that they work together, messages are sent by the brain to other organs. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.

Your brain is made up of billions upon billions of nerve cells that are connected together in groups called neuronal groups. Action potentials on Axons are an electrical signal that neurons send to each other. Each neuron has its own cell membrane around its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

Neurotransmitters are chemicals released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. This causes the second neuron to fire too.

Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, triggering the firing of the postsynaptic neuron.

Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They coordinate activity between the different parts of your brain.

What is the most intriguing fact about the human anatomy?

There are two eyes, two ears. Two nostrils. Four limbs. A mouth, nose and penis. Yes, more than 50 parts to our bodies. But one thing is missing. A heart.

The heart is a pump that circulates blood throughout your body. The blood moves through the veins. It transports oxygen and nutrients to your cells. It also removes carbon dioxide.

Each minute, the heart pumps approximately 5 liters. This is equivalent to a person drinking 2-3 cups coffee daily.

Blood flows through the heart 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While you are sleeping, your heart beats about 100 times per second.

Skin color can be used to determine if someone has a medical condition. Looking closely at the skin's surface, you can see tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These tiny vessels transport blood from the larger blood vessels to the heart. The skin turns blue or violet when blood flow becomes blocked.

Red blood cells are missing in people with sickle-cell disease. Their blood becomes sticky and hardens, causing them to become very ill.

A bandage can be used to stop bleeding if you have cut your own skin. Blood must continue to flow to allow the wounds to heal properly. Doctors will insert a needle under the skin to access the vein near the injury. This allows the blood to drain from the injured area.

Doctors may also insert catheters (catheters), in an artery to treat a blood clot. This keeps patients alive until the clot has broken up naturally.

Is there an Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list is not made public. The names are not known to us. But, here's why it matters.

The reason for the secrecy is that the blacklisted actors and directors wouldn't be able to find jobs. The studios would be out of business as they lose money. It would mean they would reduce their expenditure on movies. This would result in fewer opportunities available for blacklisted filmmakers. Which would lead them to go bankrupt.

Which could ultimately result in more victims.

If someone attempts to make an Oscar-winning movie, they may be asked to sign a contract stating that they will not speak out against their employers. This applies to any producer or director who wishes to be nominated.

Producers often pressure directors to cut scenes from their films. Directors may threaten to quit projects that don’t align with their vision.

This is why Hollywood keeps a blacklist. You'll likely become unemployed if you say bad things about your employer. This is bad news for anyone.

Problem is, many people have been falsely charged. These people have had to fight to clear their names.

We need to stop this kind of thing before it starts happening again. We need to ensure everyone has the right of expression.

Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the Hollywood blacklist.

Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?

Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.

This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike anything else on Earth.

It is very remote and isolated. There is much more to this place than meets the eyes.

Some of the most bizarre wildlife species can also be found in this natural wonder.

Let's now see how this amazing destination came to be so well-known for its mystery.

Antarctica, The South Pole

No one knows exactly why Antarctica was named Antarctica. Some believe it is "land of the ice". Others think it comes from Greek mythology.

Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. One of the twins was said to have been born in winter. This is why the word "antarctic" was chosen.

Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would mean land turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason Antarctica has held a special fascination for people, it is undeniable.

It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.

Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.

About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. You can find approximately half the world's species of animal and plant plants here.

What is the secret to Antarctica's unique environment? Here, water is frozen into ice rather than vaporizing into the air.

This causes large masses to form of ice which float high above the ground.

These glaciers are responsible for covering 80% of the continent. They continue to grow in size each year.

Since 1960, the Antarctic ice sheets has grown 60ft.

If the melting continues, sea level could rise up to 200ft. This could lead to massive flooding across the globe.

Not everyone believes this is bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They claim that the melting of ice sheets could accelerate as temperatures rise. This would lead to flooding that removes tons of toxic chemicals and soil from our bodies.

Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.
