There is one podcast that stands out among the many on the National Public Radio's (NPR) docket. It is the name of a podcast that covers a wide variety of topics including biology, psychology, and medicine, albeit in a slightly unorthodox manner. The main goal of this program is to provide the public with a glimpse into the mind of an exemplary subject matter expert.
Shankar Vedantam is a well-known scientist, entrepreneur and producer of this program. The resulting audio program can be found on hundreds public radio stations across the country. Vedantam is a former reporter at The Washington Post, who recently departed the newsroom to take a stab at his own independent production company. He is able to explore topics otherwise unexplored as a freelancer, which is one of the many perks to his new gig.
The show was produced with a modest budget, but it certainly did not skimp on the science, and the resulting show is a must-listen for discerning listeners. The show is easily ranked among the Top 25 most downloaded podcasts by NPR. Hidden Brain is almost three million downloaded. It's hard to believe that Hidden Brain didn't become a regular feature on NPR’s weekly schedule. It is back after a three-year absence. Hopefully, the show's return will be a welcome one. Finding new material will be the biggest challenge of The Hidden Brain's podcast. The Hidden Brain listeners have the good fortune to find Vedantam a master of all trades. The podcast's content is as eclectic and diverse as its subject material.
Vedantam has made headlines for his podcast. He co-founded a production company, has written two books on neuroscience, and published some research papers. Vedantam, as the title implies, is a firm believer in science. One of the most significant achievements of Vedantam's show was setting a high standard in public radio's otherwise murky waters. One can only believe that the show will reach its best days.

Like many NPR programs that have been successful, the best days of the show may be behind us. But you can bet Shankar Vedantam will continue to work in other areas. The podcast will be the brainchild and vision of an informed journalist. You might want to grab a few listeners next time you are stuck at work and enjoy a cocktail with them. You'll hopefully discover your hidden brain and learn something along the way. Until next time, happy podcasting! All the best. The key to the success of this program lies in one simple idea: Make the best of what is available. We all need a little help from time to time. While the hidden brain might be quite a while away, it is certain to be a big hit with the help of its latest occupants.
FAQ
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.
Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his full name. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.
Sexton said he enjoys his job. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We see big rigs coming through town and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.
"It's all I felt," he stated.
Sexton loved the story about the driver who pulled over at an abandoned gas station close to Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove down the street and saw this building. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. "Then he took out everything and began to fill up the truck. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was just an absolute mess. But it was cleaned out before he came. There was not a single piece of trash.
So why did this happen? The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.
It can happen hundreds of thousands of times per week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.
The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some are washed into rivers and oceans. Others end up with fish in their stomachs.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.

What is the most intriguing fact about the human anatomy?
Two eyes, two ears, 2 nostrils, 4 limbs, 1 nose, 1 penis and one mouth are all there. Yes, more than 50 parts to our bodies. But one thing is missing. A heart.
The heart is a pump which circulates blood throughout the body. The blood flows through the veins and arteries to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
Each minute, the heart pumps approximately 5 liters. This amount is equivalent to an adult drinking 2-3 cups of coffee daily.
The blood flows throughout the heart 24/7, 365 days a calendar. When you're asleep, your heart beats approximately 100 times per hour.
You can tell whether someone is healthy or unhealthy because of the color of their skin. The capillaries are tiny blood vessels that can be seen on the skin's surface. These small vessels carry blood away from the large blood vessels in the skin back to the heart. When blood flow is blocked, the skin turns blue or purple.
Red blood cells are missing in people with sickle-cell disease. Their blood becomes very sticky and hardened, leading to serious illness.
You can use a bandage to stop bleeding if your cut is severe. For the wound to heal properly, blood must continue to flow. To do this, doctors insert a needle through the skin into the vein next to the injury. This allows the blood to drain from the injured area.
A doctor can also insert tubes (catheters), into an artery in the vicinity of where blood clots form. This keeps the patient occupied until the clot is broken down naturally.
Which is the most secretive city in the world?
The answer to that question may shock you. It may even make it uncomfortable, as it challenges our perceptions of reality and our lives. However, there's a reason for this place to exist. It's not what we would expect.
The ancient Greeks called it the City of God. It was also known as the City of Destruction according to the Bible.
It is also called Kashi in India (Kashmir). It is also called Novgorod in Russia.
Here in America, however, it is called The Village That Disappeared.
One tiny town in western New York State lost its 1,200 inhabitants without trace. It was abandoned without any remains, including no bodies, cars, or houses. The only thing that survived was a road sign, which pointed to its former location.
This tiny community disappeared without leaving any clues as to where it went or when. Some believe it was swallowed by the earth. Others claim that a meteorite hit destroyed it. Some claim that it was destroyed by a meteorite strike. Others still believe it was stolen away by aliens.
The people of this once-thriving community, however, are positive that the town won't disappear forever. They had just moved to another town.
You can even track the disappearance of Zugspitz on a dedicated website.
Then, where is it? Well, it's in Switzerland!
You can find Zugspitze at the border of Austria and Germany. The lake Lake Zugspitze is just beyond the mountain's summit.
It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. What is the difference between some towns that disappear and others that survive? I decided that I would investigate.
I wanted to know more about the mysterious disappearing towns. What causes a town to disappear? How can a town disappear from existence?
There are several theories behind the disappearing of towns. One theory suggests that a community disappears when all of its buildings are removed. Another theory suggests that the town simply moves somewhere else. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.
There are many theories, but the truth is that thousands of towns around the world have been submerged by the earth. This video examines both the history and current status.

How To
American history secret societies and clubs
The secret societies and clubs in American History are fascinating for many reasons. One reason is because of the mystery surrounding them. Their effect on society is another reason.
Secret societies and clubs have been used throughout America’s history in order to promote ideas that might otherwise be considered taboo. Some of these ideas include racism and anti-Semitism. These groups helped spread political ideologies like communism or socialism.
The Ku Klux Klan was the most famous American group. This group was founded in 1865 following the Civil War. Its purpose was to protect white men from African Americans.
Other organizations were also formed during this period, including the Knights Templars, Freemasons and Odd Fellows. All of these groups shared similar beliefs and goals.
Another interesting aspect about secret societies is their ability to restrict memberships to men only. Some women were members of these secret societies. These women included Emma Goldman. Margaret Sanger. And Susan B Anthony.
The ideals shared by the secret societies mentioned earlier were not shared by all. The Order of Skull & Bones is an example of a secret society that was established in 1832. Their goal was to create an elite group within the United States.
