The Hidden Brain-The Creation of Adam Brain

30 chilling facts that will creep you out

There is one podcast that stands out of the hundreds of others on the National Public Radio(NPR) docket. It is the name of a podcast that covers a wide variety of topics including biology, psychology, and medicine, albeit in a slightly unorthodox manner. The main goal of this program is to provide the public with a glimpse into the mind of an exemplary subject matter expert.

Shankar Vedantam, a well-known scientist as well as entrepreneur, produced this audio program. Vedantam is a former reporter at The Washington Post, who recently departed the newsroom to take a stab at his own independent production company. He is able to explore topics otherwise unexplored as a freelancer, which is one of the many perks to his new gig.

Although the show had a modest budget, it did not compromise on science. The result is an excellent show that all listeners should enjoy. It's no surprise that Hidden Brain has been named to NPR's Top 25 List of Most Popular Podcasts. Hidden Brain has nearly three million downloads. It is difficult to believe that it didn't become a weekly staple on NPR's program schedule. It is back after a three-year absence. The podcast's return should be welcomed. The podcast's biggest challenge will be finding new material to cover. Luckily for the listeners of The Hidden Brain, Vedantam is a jack of all trades, and the show's content is as eclectic as its subject matter.

Vedantam has made headlines for his podcast. He has co-founded an independent production firm, written books on neuroscience, and published a few research papers. As the title suggests, Vedantam is a true believer in science. The show's most notable accomplishment may have been in establishing a standard of quality in public radio's otherwise murky waters. One can only hope that the show's best days are yet to come.

horrible facts

Like many NPR programs that have been successful, the best days of the show may be behind us. But you can bet Shankar Vedantam will continue to work in other areas. This podcast will remain the brainchild of a highly-informed journalist. You might want to grab a few listeners next time you are stuck at work and enjoy a cocktail with them. This will hopefully help you uncover your hidden genius and teach you something. Until next time, happy podcasting! Best of luck. The secret to this program's success lies in a simple idea: make the best of what you have. Everyone needs some help from time-to-time. The hidden brain may be a long time coming, but with the help of its newest occupants, the show is sure to be a hit.

FAQ

Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?

According to the United Nations, the average person produces over 2.5 pounds of daily waste. That adds up to over 25 billion pounds of garbage per year!

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his name. He is the founder of Waste Watchers. He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.

Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.

"It's all I felt," he stated.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He saw the building as he drove down the road. He backed up and entered the building. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. It was a complete mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There wasn't any trash."

So why did this happen? The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.

This can happen hundreds of times a week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.

Trash, however, isn't the only problem facing our planet. As you may have noticed, things are getting worse.According to experts, pollution levels have risen dramatically in recent years.More than half of all water bodies on Earth are polluted.Pollution from industrial chemicals has increased by more than 30 percent since 1980.Even the air we breathe is becoming increasingly toxic.A study by the World Health Organization found that the average person inhales around 100 million particles daily.

Plastic pieces make up most of these particles. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list isn’t available for public viewing. As far as we are aware, the names are not even known. It matters because of this.

The reason behind the secrecy was that blacklisted directors and actors wouldn't be able find work. The studios would be out of business as they lose money. They would also cut back on their spending on movies. This would lead to fewer opportunities and less money for blacklisted directors. Which would lead them to go bankrupt.

Which could ultimately result in more victims.

A contract may be required to agree to not speak against employers if someone attempts to make an Oscar winning movie. For any producer or director that wants to be nominated, the same applies.

Producers often pressure directors to cut scenes from their films. Or directors threaten to walk out of projects that don’t match their vision.

This is why Hollywood has created a blacklist. If you are negative about your employer, you'll most likely go unemployed. That's bad for everyone.

Many people have been wrongly accused. These people have had to fight to clear their names.

This is unacceptable behavior and must be stopped. Everyone should have the right to speak freely.

We need to get rid of Hollywood's blacklist.

Why do actors end up on the blacklist?

If you are an actor, you will get more rejection than if you are a writer. Actors are likely to be rejected often. However, it doesn't really matter as you will eventually meet someone who is truly your love.

Actors are typically very talented and can earn a living virtually anywhere. Actors aren't always interested in making a living. Actors love to act and tell stories. You'll be an actor if you love acting.

Sometimes, auditions are cancelled because you are either too young or too old for the job. Or, you could lose out on a role in a movie. It happens all the time.

After you've been cast, there may be criticism. You may be told that your makeup is too heavy or you are not worthy of wearing it. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.

Sometimes, you might be criticised for playing a role that isn’t authentic or realistic. You might play a gay man and everyone assumes that you are straight. You might play a tough woman, but she is very emotional.

Maybe you are asked to change your vocal chords. Sometimes, they will ask you to sound more like a woman or a man. They usually want you sound better.

These criticisms should be ignored. Actors feel like they've failed when told they did wrong. But the truth is that they haven't done anything wrong.

They didn't have the talent to make them famous. And sometimes, no matter how hard they try, they don't fit the bill.

There are many reasons an actor might be blacklisted. Some people don't like actors. Others feel that actors are lazy. Still, others say that actors are cheaters.

Whatever the reason, it's important to realize that you will not get blacklisted if you keep trying. There are many opportunities for you to find your role.

If you persevere, you will eventually succeed.

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

To ensure that other organs and muscle functions work together, the brain sends messages. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.

Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Neurons communicate with each other by sending electrical signals called action potentials on axons. Every neuron has a cell wall around its nucleus. The cell membrane houses channels that allow ions, such as potassium and sodium, to enter and exit the cells. The neuron is lit by an electric charge created by the movement of ions.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. This causes the second neuron to fire too.

When another neuron sends an impulse to the presynaptic neural cell, neurotransmitter is released. The impulse travels along an synapse between the neurons. The transmitter binds with the receptors of the postsynaptic nerve, activating the firing of the postsynaptic neurons.

The nervous system relies on neurotransmitters for communication. They coordinate brain activity among different parts.

How To

Hollywood scandals that shocked the globe

There is nothing more shocking than witnessing someone get famous for the wrong reasons. But, it's equally shocking to watch them fall from the graces.

The best part is seeing how an industry reacts to its mistakes. We've all heard stories of celebrities who used drugs and alcohol excessively. Some even died young because of it.

The worst thing is when these stars are made public about their problems and shunned. This is where we ended up last week.

After a long and successful career, Heath Ledger finally succumbed to his demons. He overdosed on prescription pills, and after a brief battle with death, he passed away.

His family and friends were unable to accept his death, and the media was quick to criticize him.

Heath was once considered one of the most talented actors working today. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for his performance in Brokeback Mountain.

In addition to acting, Heath also wrote and directed films, including A Knight's Tale, Monster's Ball, and Iron Man 3.

Hollywood loved Heath, but he became too big for his britches. He started to use drugs and drink heavily. Eventually, he went to rehab and came out clean.

After he had gotten sober, he decided to make amends. So he made a documentary called "Room 237," which chronicled the making of The Shining. It was supposed to be released this year, but now it won't hit theaters until next year.

Heath was unsuccessful in his attempts to get back into Hollywood. In fact, he was actually twice arrested for drug-related charges.

We are not suggesting that Heath should be allowed back into the show business. However, it would be nice if he could get some help before things spiral out of control.

We hope Heath's story will serve as a warning to others who may think they can still have everything.
