Even though the title of my snobbish, book club is held by an idiotically misguided slacker at the moment, I've discovered that he is capable of stopping my naysayer from getting out of control. He is therefore my prime candidate for the naysayer award. This slacker will make a very happy camper. This slacker might not be the only one around. The above-mentioned lacker is currently in a bad mood so he is prime candidate of my good ol’time slackers of the year award.
FAQ
What is the most mysterious area on earth?
Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.
Why do we find this place so intriguing? Because it is unlike any other spot on Earth.
It is remote and difficult to reach. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.
You will also find some of the oddest wildlife species in this natural wonder.
Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.
Antarctica: The South Pole
It is not known why Antarctica was called Antarctica. Some believe it refers to "land of ice". Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.
Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to legend, one twin was born in winter. Thus, the term antarctic.
Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would mean that the land was turned away by the sun.
Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.
It is the driest, windiest of all continents. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.
Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.
It is home to approximately 90 percent of all life on Earth. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What makes Antarctica so special? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.
This results in large masses of ice floating above the ground.
These floating glaciers make up 80%. These glaciers are getting larger each year.
Since 1960, the Antarctic ice sheets has grown 60ft.
If the melting continues, the sea level will rise by up to 200 feet. This could lead worldwide flooding.
Not everyone believes this is bad news. Global warming may be beneficial for some scientists. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.
Others warn that this theory sounds like something out of a science-fiction movie.
How does your brain control your body's functions?
The brain sends messages to other organs and muscles to ensure they work together. Your brain controls all that happens in your body. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.
Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Each neuron has its own cell membrane around its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The neuron is lit by an electric charge created by the movement of ions.
Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the second neuron, opening ion channels so ions can pass in and out of the channel. In turn, the second neuron also fires.
When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. An impulse travels along a synaptic link between the two neuron. The transmitter binds at the receptors of the post-synaptic Neuron and triggers its firing.
They are vital for the communication between nerve cells. They also help coordinate activity between different parts of the brain.
What is your most secretive community?
This question might surprise you. This may make you feel uncomfortable as it challenges your perception of reality and the way we live. However, there's a reason for this place to exist. It's not what we would expect.
It was called the City of God by ancient Greeks. It was also known as the City of Destruction according to the Bible.
It's known in India as Kashi (Kashmir). It's known in Russia as Novgorod.
But here in America, it goes by another name - The Town That Disappeared.
A small town in western New York State, with a population of 1,200, vanished without a trace. It was abandoned without any remains, including no bodies, cars, or houses. The only thing that survived was a road sign, which pointed to its former location.
The little village vanished, with no trace of its existence. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Some claim it was destroyed by a meteorite impact. Some claim that it was destroyed by a meteorite strike. Others still believe it was stolen away by aliens.
Regardless of what happened, residents of this once-thriving town are certain that their town won't be forgotten forever. They had just relocated to another town.
There's even a website that tracks the disappearances and recoveries of Zugspitz.
So, where exactly did this town go? It's in Switzerland, actually!
Zugspitze is located on the border between Germany and Austria. Lake Zugspitze can be found just beyond the summit.
It has always fascinated and astonished me to see how many towns have vanished but still exist. Why do some disappear while others survive? I decided that I would investigate.
I wanted to know more about the mysterious disappearing towns. What makes a town disappear? How can a town disappear from existence?
There are many theories to explain the phenomenon of disappearing towns. One theory suggests that a community disappears when all of its buildings are removed. Another theory holds that the town simply relocates to another location. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.
No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video examines both the history and current status.
Why do actors get blacklisted in the first place?
As an actor, rejection is much more common than for writers. If you're an actor, you'll probably get rejected a lot. It doesn't matter if you get rejected a lot because eventually you'll meet someone you love.
Actors have a lot of talent, so they can make a decent living almost anywhere. Actors aren't always interested in making a living. Actors love acting and storytelling. Actors are likely to be outspoken.
Sometimes you may be told by the audition panel that you are too young, too old, or wrong for the role. Or, you could lose out on a role in a movie. This happens all the time.
But once you've been cast, you may also face criticism. Some people will say that you look awful or shouldn't wear makeup. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.
Sometimes, your performance as a fictional character can be ridiculed. You could be a gay actor and everyone assumes you are straight. You might play a tough woman, but she is very emotional.
Maybe you are asked to change your vocal chords. Sometimes they ask you to sound like either a boy or a girl. They usually want you sound better.
Negative criticisms are best ignored. Actors often feel that they've failed if they are told they did something wrong. But the truth is that they haven't done anything wrong.
They didn't have the talent to make them famous. And sometimes, no matter how hard they try, they don't fit the bill.
Blacklisting can happen for many reasons. Some people don't like actors. Others think that actors are lazy. Others still believe that actors cheat.
No matter the reason, it is important to remember that you will not be blacklisted if there are other jobs available. There are plenty of jobs available and you'll find them.
Keep trying and you will eventually succeed.

Hollywood scandals that shocked the world
There is nothing more shocking than witnessing someone get famous for the wrong reasons. There's nothing more shocking than watching someone fall from grace.
The best thing about watching how an industry reacts when it makes mistakes is the best part. We've all heard about celebrities who took too much alcohol and drugs. Some even died young because of it.
But the worst part is when those same stars go public with their problems and are shunned by everyone. We found ourselves in that situation last week.
Heath Ledger gave up after a long career that was successful. He took too many prescription pills and died shortly after.
His family and friends struggled to accept his passing, and the media had a field day bashing him publicly.
Heath was once considered to be one of today's most talented actors. Two Academy Awards nominations were given to Heath for his role in Brokeback Mountain.
Heath not only acted, but also wrote and directed films including A Knight's Tale. Monster's Ball. Iron Man.
Hollywood loved Heath but he grew too large for his boots. He started taking drugs and drinking heavily. He finally went to rehab, and he was clean.
Now that he was sober, it was time to make amends. He produced a documentary called Room 237 that documented the making process of The Shining. The film was originally supposed to be released in this year's theaters, but it will not make its way into the cinemas until next year.
Every time Heath tried to get back into Hollywood, something happened. He was actually arrested twice for drug charges.
We don't believe Heath should have been allowed to go back into the entertainment industry. However, it would be nice if he could get some help before things spiral out of control.
We hope Heath's story will serve as a warning to others who may think they can still have everything.
