The Ebbinghaus illusion is an optical illusion that occurs when a stimulus appears larger than the size of its surroundings. Its appearance depends on the perceived size of the surrounding objects and the retinal size of the stimulus. The size perception is confirmed by the flash-lag effect, which causes the objects to appear similar at a later time. Participants were shown two sets each of four identical surrounding discs at different times, depending on their position on the retina. Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.
Whatever the reason Antarctica holds a special fascination, people have always loved it.
It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. It is too cold to support trees, plants, and animals.
And yet, this frozen wasteland is teeming with life.
It is home to approximately 90 percent of all life on Earth. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What is it that makes Antarctica so unique? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.

He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.
Sexton claims he is very satisfied with his job. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton started following truck drivers nearly 20 years ago.
"I just fell in love with it," he said.
His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove along the road and saw this structure. So he backed up and went inside. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The man got everything out of the truck and began filling it up again. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just a total mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There wasn't any trash anywhere."
What is the explanation? This particular spot used to be a recycling center. People would drive there to recycle their trash. "They'd bring their household items and take them to this building," Sexton explained.And after they finished, they would leave the empty containers behind.
Now, because of the way the law works, once a container reaches its destination, it cannot be opened.So no matter how often someone takes something out of it, the thing will never be emptied.Every time the truck comes by, it has to start over again. It can happen hundreds of time per week. Eventually, the truck is so full of junk it stops running. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.
However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.
Many of these tiny plastic pieces end up in landfills and incinerators. Others end up in rivers, oceans or the stomachss of fish.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.

You might be surprised at the answer. You might be uncomfortable with the truth of it, as it may challenge your perception of reality. There is a reason this place exists and it's not as you might expect.

I was curious about the disappearing towns. What causes a community to disappear? How does one place go extinct?
It turned out that there are many theories about disappearing towns. One theory says that a town disappears when all the buildings are demolished. Another theory states that the town simply moves to another location. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.
No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video looks into the history of those places and investigates their current status.
