Many civilizations existed in this ancient world. But many of them have disappeared. The cities that have been lost are often buried beneath the earth, and no one knows their location. They may be abandoned by war, natural disasters or other reasons. No matter what the reason, these ancient cities are important for humankind.
Dwarves. Elves. Titans. Fairies once lived in these cities. The buildings of the lost city were destroyed by the residents who moved on to other cities or died. These buildings are now guarded by parasites, and they contain valuable loot.
Machu Picchu is one the most iconic lost cities of the world. Machu Picchu was built by the Incas around the beginning of the sixteenth century. However, it was abandoned many centuries later. It was unknown to the rest of the world for over 100 years. Hiram, a Hawaiian historian who discovered the site in 1911, was able to re-discover it. The site is 2,430m above sea level and protected by natural springs as well as agricultural terraces.

Caral, which can be found in Peru's Supe Valley is another of these lost cities. According to legend, this site was inhabited between 2600 BC-2000 BC. The large plaza is surrounded by six large platform mounds. The population is estimated to be between 40,000 and 50,000 according to modern estimates.
Cuzco (El Dorado), Hattusa, and Hattusa, are some other lost cities of South America. Archeologists have been able find evidence of the existence of these cities, even though they aren't confirmed. Based on El Dorado's tale, a British soap opera was made in the 1990s.
Ciudad Perdida is a former great city. Located in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, it was reconstructed in the 1980s. It featured a circular plaza with a network of tiles roads and an architecture. The Spanish conquest made the city uninhabitable. Some of the survivors kept in touch with the city’s past inhabitants. Others identified as Pompeiiians.
Other ancient cities have also been discovered. They are often forgotten, but are often rediscovered centuries or decades later. These sites offer history buffs a wealth of information.

What is the most mysterious place on earth?
Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.
What is it that makes this place so interesting? Because it's unlike any other place in the world.
It is remote and difficult to reach. However, there's more to this location than meets the eye.
You will also find some of the oddest wildlife species in this natural wonder.
Let's now see how this amazing destination came to be so well-known for its mystery.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica's name is a mystery. Some believe it refers to "land of ice". Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.
Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.
Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would be land turned away form the sun.
Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.
It is the driest, windiest of all continents. It is too cold for trees, plants and animals.
And yet, this frozen wasteland is teeming with life.
About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. It is home to approximately half of all world's animal and plant species.
What is it that makes Antarctica so unique? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.
This causes large ice masses to rise above the ground.
These floating glaciers cover 80% of the continent. They're getting bigger every year.
So far, the Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60 feet since 1960.
The sea level could rise to 200 feet if the melting continues. This could lead worldwide flooding.
However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists think global warming might be beneficial. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.
Others cautioned that this theory sounds too science fiction.
What is the most secretive location in the entire world?
This question might surprise you. It could even make you uncomfortable, because it challenges how reality is perceived and lived. There is a reason this place exists and it's not as you might expect.
The City of God was its name by the ancient Greeks. According to the Bible, it was called the City of Destruction.
It's known in India as Kashi (Kashmir). It's also known as Novgorod in Russia.
It is known as The Town That Disappeared in America.
A small community of 1200 people in western New York State vanished. A road sign pointing to the former location of the town was all that was left, except for a few bodies and cars.
This tiny town vanished without any trace. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Others say it was destroyed in a meteorite collision. Some claim that it was destroyed by a meteorite strike. Others still believe it was stolen away by aliens.
Regardless of what happened, residents of this once-thriving town are certain that their town won't be forgotten forever. They had just relocated to another town.
Even a website exists to help track down the disappearances of the lost city Zugspitz.
So where is this town? It's in Switzerland.
Zugspitze is located on the border between Germany and Austria. Just beyond the summit of the mountain is a huge lake called Lake Zugspitze.
It has always fascinated me that so many towns have disappeared, yet some still remain. Why is it that some disappear while others live on? I decided to investigate.
I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What causes a community to disappear? How does one place go extinct?
It turns out that there are several theories about the phenomenon of vanishing towns. One theory holds that a town disappears if all its buildings are demolished. Another theory is that the town moves to another place. A third theory claims that the town never existed at all.
No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video explores the history of these towns and examines their current state.
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.
Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. It then gets dumped in foreign countries, polluting their ecosystems. However, now we know where all that trash goes. Mike Sexton is his name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then reports back about what happens next.
Sexton says he finds his job very satisfying. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck drivers nearly 20 years ago.
He stated that he fell in love with the product.
His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton remembered, "The man was looking for somewhere to put the load." "He drove down the road and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. "Then he took out everything and began to fill up the truck. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was just an absolute mess. But it had been cleaned out before he came along. There wasn’t trash everywhere."
This begs the question: Why? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.
This can happen hundreds of times a week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The truck eventually stops running and the owner decides that it is time to get rid of the vehicle.
Trash is not the only problem our planet faces.
These tiny plastic particles make up the majority of the particles. Some end up in incinerators or landfills. Some end up in rivers and oceans, while others end up in fish's stomachs.
Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.
