Documentaries for the President

8 freaky facts about death

Ken Burns

Ken Burns is instantly recognisable. His work has been recognized with millions of viewers and has won more awards that any documentary filmmaker. The Civil War was the PBS series with the greatest audience. It also received more nominations than any other series. The Civil War photographer Shelby Foote became a celebrity thanks to it. As a result, Ken Burns' style has expanded the market for history programming.

Burns' approach for writing a presidential declaration is not new. Burns has been making movies every year for at least a decade. And he has a brand new film in the works. He plans to release a documentary of six hours, which will consist of three segments about the U.S.'s involvement in the Holocaust. The film's title isn't yet set, but it will examine the question of how Americans knew about Holocaust and extermination.

Burns' films are set in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Burns has documented the lives of many prominent Americans including Frank Lloyd Wright and Susan B. Anthony. His documentaries have been nominated for fifteen Emmy Awards and two Academy Awards. His films have been viewed by millions and are considered a cultural and educational power.

scary facts about humans

Woodrow Wilson

Woodrow Wilson was an intelligent, progressive, and pacifist president who supervised America's rise to global power. His presidency was markedly marred by a number of controversial decisions. These and many other aspects of Woodrow Wilson's life and career are explored in this Woodrow Wilson presidential documentary.

Wilson has only just recovered from a stroke as the first volume begins. While he struggles with domestic and international issues, his main goal is to convince Congress to approve the Treaty of Versailles. The volume opens on Christmas Eve in 1920, the final days of Wilson's Wilson presidency. Wilson and his advisers fail with a program that will work. This puts the administration on the edge of collapse. The cabinet meets for the last time on March 1. Wilson finds himself in an impossible situation after the German new government refuses not to speak.

These documentaries were created by a team of historians, including Dr. Asantewa Boakyewa, supervisory program manager at the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum and former curator of the President Wilson House Museum. Woodrow Wilson's presidential documentaries also feature Dr. John Milton Cooper (author of Woodrow Wilson: A Biography) and professor emeritus of the University of Wisconsin Madison. In addition to Boakyewa, Dr. Sidney Bland, author of the biography Lucy Burns, has also been interviewed for the series.

Robert Reiner

Robert Reiner may have become a Hollywood liberal, but his skills as a director for mainstream entertainment are gone. His last film, "The American President", shows that Reiner is less a filmmaker than a ride operator. Reiner plays John Walcott (the Knight Ridder editor) in Shock and Awe. Two reporters expose the Bush administration's lies, and show how the press misrepresented the official story. While capturing the harrowing history of the war, it also captures the irreverent patter of journalists and the smugness of Bush administration cabinet members.

scary facts about life

The Story of Us meanwhile is similar to The American President because its ending contradicts The American President's premise. It exists solely for Michelle Pfeiffer to have a heroic moment. Reiner's lacklustre feminist instincts mean that he is forced to embrace casual sexuality. But while his approach to documentary filmmaking is not particularly sexy, it's clear that Reiner can soar when presented with more superior material.

FAQ

What is the most secretive location in the entire world?

The answer may shock you. It may even make it uncomfortable, as it challenges our perceptions of reality and our lives. But there is a reason why this place exists. And it is not what you would expect.

It was known as the City of God to the ancient Greeks. According to the Bible, it was called the City of Destruction.

It is also called Kashi in India (Kashmir). In Russia, it's called Novgorod.

However, in America it is called The Town that Disappeared.

One small community in western New York State with 1,200 residents vanished without a trace. There were no bodies, cars or houses left behind, but a road sign that pointed to the former location was all that was left.

This little community vanished and no trace remains to indicate where or when it disappeared. Some believe it was swallowed by the earth. Others claim that a meteorite hit destroyed it. Some claim that it was destroyed by a meteorite strike. Others still believe it was stolen away by aliens.

Regardless of what happened, residents of this once-thriving town are certain that their town won't be forgotten forever. They had just moved from one town to the other.

A website is available to track the disappearance and recovery of Zugspitz, which was lost in the Great Depression.

Then, where is it? It's in Switzerland.

Zugspitze is located on the border between Germany and Austria. A huge lake, Lake Zugspitze, is located just beyond the summit.

It has always fascinated and astonished me to see how many towns have vanished but still exist. What is the difference between some towns that disappear and others that survive? I set out to find out.

I wanted to learn more about mysteriously disappearing towns. Is it possible for a place to vanish? What makes a place disappear?

There are many theories to explain the phenomenon of disappearing towns. One theory is that a city disappears after all buildings have been demolished. Another theory is that the town moves to another place. Another theory suggests that the town has never existed.

Theories aside, the fact remains that dozens of towns around the globe have been swallowed up by the ground. This video examines the history and current status of these places.

What is the most mysterious location on Earth?

Antarctica is the world's most mysterious place on Earth.

Why is this place so amazing? Because it's unlike any other place in the world.

It is remote and difficult to reach. There is much more to this place than meets the eyes.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

Let's see how this incredible destination became famous for its mystery.

Antarctica, The South Pole

Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some say it means "land on ice." Others believe it comes from Greek mythology.

Antarktis in ancient Greece was the name given the island where Zeus' twin brother brothers were born. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.

Others believe that it is the Greek word anti, which means against, and tropos, which refers to turning. This would mean that the land was turned away by the sun.

No matter the reason, Antarctica is a place that has always fascinated people.

It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, life is abundant in this frozen wilderness.

Here are about 90% of all the living creatures on Earth. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.

What is Antarctica? Here, water is frozen into ice rather than vaporizing into the air.

This creates large masses of ice that float above the ground.

These floating glaciers make up 80%. They are growing in size every year.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet has grown 60 feet in the past 60 years.

If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. This could lead worldwide flooding.

But not everyone thinks this is bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.

Others warn that this theory sounds like something out of a science-fiction movie.

How does your brain control your body's functions?

To ensure that other organs and muscle functions work together, the brain sends messages. Everything that happens within your body is controlled by the brain. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.

Your brain is composed of billions and billions nerve cells, connected in groups called neurons. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Every neuron has a cell wall around its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The neuron fires when there is ion movement.

When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters bind with receptors on the second nerve cell, opening ion channel channels to allow ions in and out. As a result, second neuron fires as well.

When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. The impulse travels along the synaptic pathway that connects both neurons. The transmitter binds at the receptors of the post-synaptic Neuron and triggers its firing.

Communication within the nervous system is possible thanks to neurotransmitters. They also help coordinate activity between different parts of the brain.

What are some dark secrets in Hollywood?

Hollywood is full of secret societies. Many secret societies are cult-like and follow rigid rules. Others are just clubs for people with common interests.

There are other nefarious entities that have a significant influence on the industry. These include companies like the MPAA ("Motion Picture Association of America"), which determines film ratings. The RIAA ("Recording Industry Association of America") sets music licensing fees.

Numerous unions and guilds also represent actors, directors, writers, producers, etc. Most major movie studios and television networks are owned by large corporations which own these various organizations.

The point is that no matter how secretive any group may seem, someone somewhere knows exactly what they do. They shouldn't be fearful, however.

Instead, we should embrace these facts. Because they give us information that allows us to make better decisions.

They also tell us about the movies that are most likely to succeed and which songs are most popular.

They allow us to make informed decisions about what we buy, watch and listen to.

We can trust them and can disregard their advice if it is not in line with our preferences.

They are more powerful than ever because we chose to ignore them. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.

And if you don't like what they say, you're free to ignore them.

Let's now look at some lesser-known, but still very real Hollywood secret organizations.

You can see why they are so vital.
