The Florentine artist Sandro Botticelli painted 'The Man of Sorrows' a portrait of Jesus Christ. This painting is among the most precious and rarest Renaissance works. This work is believed to be from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. It was in private possession since the beginning of the 20th century. Botticelli’s Man of Sorrows should sell for more that $40 million. Sotheby's expects to sell the painting by January 2022. It will also appear in London as well as Dubai.
Botticelli was a fervent Dominican, and the influence of Savonarola is clear in his art. Botticelli was a passionate Christian during the latter half of the 15th century. His paintings reflect this faith. His devotional paintings mix form and substance and combine Christian symbolism. His late religious paintings show the devotion of Dominican friar Girolamo Savonarola.
The painting shows a great deal of detail and is very well constructed. There are strong contrasts among rough surfaces. The use of color is also very effective. This painting depicts a bust-length portrait, thorn-crowned Christ. It is surrounded on all sides by angels bearing the Arma Christi (Arms of Christ), that are his weapons against Satan. The painting also recalls the work of Albrecht Durer (German Renaissance artist, famed for his crowns-of-thorns).

Sotheby’s reports that the painting had been purchased in 1963 by an American buyer. It is believed it was part of the collection Adelaide Kemble Sartoris (1814-1879), a famed English singer of opera. The painting was acquired at a Sotheby's auction and is considered to be an autograph-quality work of art.
Botticelli’s Man of Sorrows is the second highest-priced Old Master painting sold at an auction in the past five. Sotheby's bought it in January 2021 for $92,000,000 This sale helped to raise the auction price of Old Master paintings. It was also an historic sale for Sotheby's. This marked a shift at the auction house's core focus.
The Man of Sorrows picture is an innovative composition. It is believed that it was created in the early 1500s. Botticelli created the remarkable composition of Christ using a drawing panel. Although the original image was incomplete, Botticelli later discovered that the Madonna of Child Botticelli was trying to paint was the one that was missing.
After Sotheby's sale of Botticelli's 'Young Man holding a Roundel' in February 2021, the Man of Sorrows will be sold in January 2022. This was after Sotheby's sold Botticelli's 'Young Man with a Roundel' in Jan 2021. It was the most valuable Old Master painting ever sold at auction. According to Sotheby's in New York, the Man of Sorrows would be part of their Masters Week Sales Series in January 2022. The painting will travel to London, Dubai and be on display in New York at a pre-sale exhibit in January.

The Old Master paintings' value was boosted by the Man of Sorrows as well as the 'Young Man with a Rowel. It is currently unknown if Botticelli has any of his late works.
FAQ
Is there a Hollywood blacklist of actors?
There is a Hollywood blacklist.
However, the list isn’t public. As far as we know, the names aren't even known. But, here's why it matters.
The secretive nature of the information is due to the fact that actors and directors on blacklist won't be in a position to find work. This would result in studios losing money as the actors and directors would have to go out on their own. Which means they'd cut back on spending money on movies. This would lead to fewer opportunities and less money for blacklisted directors. This could lead to them going bankrupt.
This could result in even more victims.
If someone attempts to make an Oscar-winning movie, they may be asked to sign a contract stating that they will not speak out against their employers. Producers and directors who want to be nominated are subject to the same restrictions.
It's no surprise that directors are often forced to take out scenes in their films by producers. Directors might threaten to leave projects that don't reflect their vision.
This is why there is a Hollywood blacklist. You'll likely become unemployed if you say bad things about your employer. And that's not good for anyone.
There are many people who have been falsely accused. They've had the toil to clear their name.
We need to stop this kind of thing before it starts happening again. Everyone should have the right to speak freely.
We need to get rid of Hollywood's blacklist.
Have you ever wondered how much trash is produced worldwide each day?
The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!
Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. It is then shipped out and dumped in other countries. This pollutes the ecosystems. But now we know, thanks to one man. Mike Sexton is his full name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.
Sexton says he finds his job very satisfying. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We'll be following these big rigs through town. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.
"I just fell in love with it," he said.
Sexton loved the story about the driver who pulled over at an abandoned gas station close to Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He drove down the road and saw this building. He pulled over and went in. "There were two large roll-off containers full of stuff. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were lots of old tires, rags furniture, mattresses, mattresses, cans, cans, and other items. "It was a complete mess. But it was cleaned out before he came. There wasn't any trash."
Why did this happen? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.
Now, because of the way the law works, once a container reaches its destination, it cannot be opened. So no matter how often someone takes something out of it, the thing will never be emptied.Every time the truck comes by, it has to start over again. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.
Many of these tiny plastic pieces end up in landfills and incinerators. Some are washed into rivers and oceans. Others end up with fish in their stomachs.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.
Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?
Antarctica is the most mysterious continent on Earth.
Why is this place so amazing? Because it is unlike anything else on Earth.
It is isolated, remote, and very hard to visit. It is not what you see.
You will also find some of the oddest wildlife species in this natural wonder.
Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some say it means "land on ice." Others believe it comes from Greek mythology.
Antarktis, the Greek name for the island on which Zeus' twin brothers were conceived, was used in ancient Greece. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. Hence, the word antarctic.
Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would be land turned away form the sun.
Whatever the reason Antarctica has always been a fascination for people.
It is the highest, coldest, windiest, dryest, and most populated continent. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.
Yet, the frozen desert is alive with life.
Here, 90 percent live of all species of living things. You can find approximately half the world's species of animal and plant plants here.
What is it that makes Antarctica so unique? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.
This causes large ice masses to rise above the ground.
These glaciers cover more than 80% of the continent. And they're growing larger every year.
The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.
The sea level could rise to 200 feet if the melting continues. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.
This is not necessarily bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. According to scientists, global warming could be good for us because the melting of the ice sheets will accelerate, which can lead to floods that release toxic chemicals into our soil and bodies.
Others cautioned that this theory sounds too science fiction.
What dark secrets do Hollywood have?
Hollywood is full secret societies. There are many secret societies in Hollywood. Some are cult-like, where members adhere to strict rules and rituals. Others are clubs for people who share similar interests.
But there are also more nefarious organizations that control much of the industry. These include companies such as the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), which sets film ratings, and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), which sets music licensing fees.
Numerous unions/guilds also represent actors and directors as well as writers, producers, and so forth. These large corporations control the majority of major film studios and television networks.
It is obvious that, no matter how secretive or obtuse a group appears, someone knows exactly what they do. But we don't have to fear them.
Instead, we should embrace them. Because they can help us make better decisions.
These people tell us what movies and songs will succeed, and which books will sell best.
They help us make decisions about what we will buy, watch, listen to, or read.
We can trust our advisors and ignore advice that isn't in accord with our tastes.
They become more powerful because we choose to ignore them. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.
They can be ignored if you don’t like what they have to say.
Let's now look at some lesser-known, but still very real Hollywood secret organizations.
You'll see why they are so important.
