No one knows exactly why Antarctica was named Antarctica. Some believe it means "land of ice." Others believe it comes from Greek mythology.

It is the driest, windiest of all continents. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.

So far, the Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60 feet since 1960.
If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. This could lead to massive flooding across the globe.

It turned out that there are many theories about disappearing towns. One theory holds that a town disappears if all its buildings are demolished. Another theory suggests that the town simply moves somewhere else. Another theory suggests that the town has never existed.

We have two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, four limbs, a mouth, a nose, and a penis. Yes, more than 50 parts to our bodies. But one thing is missing. A heart.
The heart is a pump which circulates blood throughout the body. The blood flows through the veins and arteries to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
Each minute, the heart pumps approximately 5 liters. This is equivalent to an adult consuming 2-3 cups of coffee per day.
Blood flows throughout the heart 24 hours per day, 365 Days a Year. While you are sleeping, your heart beats about 100 times per second.
You can tell whether someone is healthy or unhealthy because of the color of their skin. Looking closely at the skin's surface, you can see tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These vessels carry blood back to the heart from the large blood vessels beneath the skin. If blood flow is blocked, skin can turn blue or purple.
Red blood cells are missing in people with sickle-cell disease. Their blood becomes extremely sticky and hardened, which can lead to very serious illnesses.
If you cut yourself, a bandage is applied to stop the bleeding. Blood must continue to flow to allow the wounds to heal properly. Doctors will insert a needle under the skin to access the vein near the injury. This allows the blood from the injured area to drain.
Doctors can also insert catheters into the artery close to the area where the bloodclot has formed. This helps to keep the patient alive until the blood clot disintegrates naturally.
