FAQ

What is the most mysterious area on earth?

Antarctica is the world's most mysterious place on Earth.

This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike any place on Earth.

It is difficult to access because it is remote and extremely isolated. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica, The South Pole

It is not known why Antarctica was called Antarctica. Some say it means "land on ice." Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.

Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. One of the twins was said to have been born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.

Others believe that it is the Greek word anti, which means against, and tropos, which refers to turning. This would mean land turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason Antarctica has always been a fascination for people.

It is the continent with the lowest, windiest and highest temperatures. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.

And yet, this frozen wasteland is teeming with life.

Here, 90 percent live of all species of living things. There are about 50% of the world's animal, plant and plant species.

What makes Antarctica so special? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.

This creates large masses of ice that float above the ground.

These floating glaciers cover over 80%. They're getting bigger every year.

The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.

If the melting continues, sea level could rise up to 200ft. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They say that as temperatures rise, the ice sheets might melt faster, causing floods that flush out tons of toxic chemicals from our soil and bodies.

Others warn that this theory sounds like something out of a science-fiction movie.

How does the brain regulate the functions of the body?

To ensure that other organs and muscle functions work together, the brain sends messages. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.

Your brain is composed of billions and billions nerve cells, connected in groups called neurons. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Each neuron is covered by a cell membrane. The membrane contains channels that allow ions like sodium and potassium to enter the cell and leave it. The neuron fires when there is ion movement.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters bind with receptors on the second nerve cell, opening ion channel channels to allow ions in and out. As a result, the second neuron fires too.

When another neuron sends an impulse to the presynaptic neural cell, neurotransmitter is released. The impulse travels along the synaptic pathway that connects both neurons. The transmitter binds with the receptors of the postsynaptic nerve, activating the firing of the postsynaptic neurons.

Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They coordinate brain activity among different parts.

What is the most secretive place in the world, and why?

The answer may shock you. This may make you feel uncomfortable as it challenges your perception of reality and the way we live. But there is a reason that this place exists. It isn't what you would expect.

It was called the City of God by ancient Greeks. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.

In India, it's called Kashi (Kashmir). It's known in Russia as Novgorod.

However, in America it is called The Town that Disappeared.

One small community in western New York State with 1,200 residents vanished without a trace. There were no bodies, cars or houses left behind, but a road sign that pointed to the former location was all that was left.

This little town disappeared, leaving no clues about where it went or when. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Others claim that a meteorite hit destroyed it. Some claim that it was destroyed by a meteorite strike. Others still believe it was stolen away by aliens.

The people of this once-thriving community, however, are positive that the town won't disappear forever. They had just moved from one town to the other.

You can even track the disappearance of Zugspitz on a dedicated website.

You might be wondering where this town went. It's in Switzerland, actually!

You can find Zugspitze at the border of Austria and Germany. Lake Zugspitze can be found just beyond the summit.

It has always fascinated and astonished me to see how many towns have vanished but still exist. Why is it that some disappear while others live on? I decided to investigate.

I was curious about the disappearing towns. What makes a town disappear? How can one place vanish from existence?

It turns out that there are several theories about the phenomenon of vanishing towns. One theory holds that a town disappears if all its buildings are demolished. Another theory holds that the town simply relocates to another location. Another theory suggests that the town has never existed.

There are many theories, but the truth is that thousands of towns around the world have been submerged by the earth. This video examines the past and present status of these areas.

What is the most interesting fact about the human body?

Two eyes, two ears, 2 nostrils, 4 limbs, 1 nose, 1 penis and one mouth are all there. It's true, we have more 50 parts of our body, but there is one thing missing. A heart.

The heart is a pump which circulates blood throughout the body. Blood travels through the arteries and veins, carrying oxygen and nutrients to the cells and removing carbon dioxide and waste products.

The heart pumps out about 5 liters per minute. This is equivalent of an adult drinking 2 to 3 cups of coffee each day.

The heart is constantly pumping blood, 24 hours a week, 365 day a year. While you sleep, your heart beats almost 100 times per minute.

The color of someone's skin can tell if they are healthy or not. Looking closely at the skin's surface, you can see tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These small vessels carry blood away from the large blood vessels in the skin back to the heart. The skin becomes blue-colored or purple when blood flow is restricted.

Red blood cells are not available to sickle cell patients. They become very sick when their blood becomes hardened and sticky.

You can use a bandage to stop bleeding if your cut is severe. Blood must continue to flow to allow the wounds to heal properly. To do this, doctors will insert a needle through your skin into the vein adjacent to the injury. This allows blood drainage from the injury area.

Doctors may also insert catheters (catheters), in an artery to treat a blood clot. This keeps the patient occupied until the clot is broken down naturally.
