FAQ

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

To ensure that they work together, messages are sent by the brain to other organs. Your brain controls all that happens in your body. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.

Your brain is made up billions of nerve cell networks connected in groups known as neurons. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Every neuron has an outer cell membrane that surrounds its nucleus. The membrane contains channels that allow ions like sodium and potassium to enter the cell and leave it. Ion movement creates the electric charge that causes the neuron to fire.

When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters attach to the receptors of the second neuron and open ions channels for ions to pass in and out. The second neuron also fires.

Neurotransmitter release occurs when the presynaptic neuron receives an impulse from another neuron. An impulse travels along a synaptic link between the two neuron. The transmitter binds with the receptors of the postsynaptic nerve, activating the firing of the postsynaptic neurons.

Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They coordinate brain activity among different parts.

What is the most mysterious place on earth?

Antarctica is the most mysterious continent on Earth.

We find this place so fascinating. It is unlike any other place on Earth.

It is remote, isolated, and extremely difficult to visit. This site has more to it than meets your eye.

Some of the most bizarre wildlife species can also be found in this natural wonder.

Let's see how this incredible destination became famous for its mystery.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some say it means "land on ice." Others think it comes from Greek mythology.

Antarktis in ancient Greece was the name given the island where Zeus' twin brother brothers were born. One of the twins was said to have been born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.

Others believe that the name comes from the Greek words anti meaning against and tropos meaning to turn. This would mean land turned away from the sun.

No matter the reason, Antarctica is a place that has always fascinated people.

It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. It is too cold for trees, plants and animals.

Yet, life is abundant in this frozen wilderness.

Here are about 90% of all the living creatures on Earth. You can find approximately half the world's species of animal and plant plants here.

What is it that makes Antarctica so unique? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.

This causes large ice masses to rise above the ground.

These floating glaciers cover over 80%. They're getting bigger every year.

So far, the Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60 feet since 1960.

The sea level could rise to 200 feet if the melting continues. It could result in massive flooding all over the world.

However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists think global warming might be beneficial. They say that as temperatures rise, the ice sheets might melt faster, causing floods that flush out tons of toxic chemicals from our soil and bodies.

But others warn that this theory sounds like a plot from a science fiction movie.

Have you ever wondered what amount of trash is generated each day worldwide?

The United Nations estimates that the average person generates more than 2.5 pounds of waste each day. This adds up to over 25 million pounds of garbage annually!

Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? It goes to the United States, where most of it is exported. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. Mike Sexton is his name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.

Sexton says he finds his job very satisfying. CNN spoke with Sexton that they have a lot fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.

He stated that he fell in love with the product.

His favorite story is about a driver that pulled into an abandoned gas station just outside Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He drove down the road and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There were two large roll-off containers full of stuff. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "Then, he took everything out and started filling up the truck again. There were tires, rags. furniture, mattresses. boxes, bottles, cans. "It was just total chaos. But it had been cleaned before he arrived. There wasn't any trash."

So why did this happen? It is because the location used to belong to a recycling centre. People who found out about this facility would drive to it to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.

You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. This can happen hundreds of times a week.Eventually, the truck becomes so overloaded with junk that it stops running. The owner eventually abandons the vehicle.

Trash, however, isn't the only problem facing our planet. As you may have noticed, things are getting worse.According to experts, pollution levels have risen dramatically in recent years.More than half of all water bodies on Earth are polluted.Pollution from industrial chemicals has increased by more than 30 percent since 1980.Even the air we breathe is becoming increasingly toxic.A study by the World Health Organization found that the average person inhales around 100 million particles daily.

These tiny plastic particles make up the majority of the particles. Some end up in incinerators or landfills. Others end up in rivers, oceans or the stomachss of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.

What is the most intriguing fact about the human anatomy?

We have two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, four limbs, a mouth, a nose, and a penis. You're correct, there are more than 50 parts in our bodies. But, one thing is missing. A heart.

The heart is a pump which circulates blood throughout the body. The blood flows through the veins and arteries to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells.

The heart pumps about 5 liters blood per minute. This is equivalent in daily coffee consumption to an adult who consumes approximately 2 to 3 cups.

The heart is constantly pumping blood, 24 hours a week, 365 day a year. While sleeping, your heart beats close to 100 times per minute.

The color of someone's skin can tell if they are healthy or not. Capillaries are tiny blood vessels visible on the skin's surface. These small vessels carry blood from the large blood vessel in the skin back towards the heart. If blood flow is blocked, skin can turn blue or purple.

Red blood cells are not available to sickle cell patients. They become very sick when their blood becomes hardened and sticky.

If you cut yourself, a bandage is applied to stop the bleeding. Blood must flow in order for the wound to heal properly. Doctors will insert a needle under the skin to access the vein near the injury. This allows the blood to drain from the injured area.

Doctors may also insert catheters (catheters), in an artery to treat a blood clot. This keeps the patient occupied until the clot is broken down naturally.
