FAQ

Which is the most mysterious spot on Earth?

Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.

What is it that makes this place so interesting? It is unlike any other place on Earth.

It is isolated, remote, and very hard to visit. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

So let's explore how this remarkable destination became famous for its mystery.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica's name is a mystery. Some believe it refers to "land of ice". Others believe it derives from Greek mythology.

Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to one source, one of the twins was conceived in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.

Others believe that the name comes from the Greek words anti meaning against and tropos meaning to turn. This would mean that the land was turned away by the sun.

Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.

It is the highest, coldest, windiest, dryest, and most populated continent. There are no trees, plants, or animals here because it is too cold.

And yet, this frozen wasteland is teeming with life.

It is home to approximately 90 percent of all life on Earth. Here are approximately 50% of all the animal and plant species in the world.

And what makes Antarctica such a unique environment? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.

This causes large ice masses to rise above the ground.

These floating glaciers make up 80%. These glaciers are getting larger each year.

Since 1960, the Antarctic ice sheets has grown 60ft.

The sea level will rise up to 200 feet if melting continues. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

This is not necessarily bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They suggest that rising temperatures could cause ice sheet melt faster, leading to floods that flush out toxic chemicals from soil and bodies.

Others warn that this theory sounds like something out of a science-fiction movie.

Have you ever wondered what amount of trash is generated each day worldwide?

The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!

Most of the trash ends up at incinerators and landfills. But, what happens to those dumpsters? The majority of this rubbish is sent out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his full name. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.

"It's all I felt," he stated.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the street and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There were two enormous roll-off containers filled with stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was just an absolute mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was no trash."

So why did this happen? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.

You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.

But, this isn't the only problem that our planet is facing.

Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.

What are some dark secrets in Hollywood?

Hollywood is filled with secret societies. Some secret societies are cultlike groups that have strict rules and rituals. Other clubs are for people who share common interests.

However, there are many other criminal organizations that hold much of the industry's power. Companies such as the MPAA, which determines film ratings, or the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), that set music licensing fees, are examples of these.

Numerous unions or guilds also represent producers, writers, actors, etc. Large corporations own most major studios and networks of television.

It is obvious that, no matter how secretive or obtuse a group appears, someone knows exactly what they do. However, we shouldn't fear them.

Instead, we should embrace them. Because they give us information that allows us to make better decisions.

These experts tell us which movies are most likely to succeed, which songs will be in demand, and what books will sell the best.

In short, they help us decide what we'll buy, watch, read, and listen to.

We can trust them so we can ignore their advice when it doesn't suit our taste.

And because we've chosen to ignore them, they become even more powerful. They are the supreme arbiters of taste.

If you don't like their words, you can choose to ignore them.

Now let's take a look at some lesser-known yet very real Hollywood secret society.

Observe why they are important.

Is there an Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list isn’t available for public viewing. We don't know the names. This is why it matters.

The secretive nature of the information is due to the fact that actors and directors on blacklist won't be in a position to find work. They would go out of business which would mean that studios would lose their money. It would mean they would reduce their expenditure on movies. This would result in fewer opportunities available for blacklisted filmmakers. Which would lead them to go bankrupt.

Which could ultimately result in more victims.

In other words, if someone is trying to make an Oscar winning movie, they might have to sign a contract that says they won't speak openly against their employers. Any director or producer who would like to be nominated for an award is subject to the same rules.

This is why you'll hear about directors being pressured by producers to take scenes out of their films. Or directors threaten to walk out of projects that don’t match their vision.

This is why Hollywood keeps a blacklist. If you speak negatively about your employer, you will likely be fired. This is not good news for anyone.

Many people have been wrongly accused. They've had the toil to clear their name.

This kind of thing must stop before it can happen again. It is essential that everyone has the freedom to express their opinions.

So we need to take down the Hollywood blacklist.
