James Murray will be the new director of United States Secret Service. He has been with the force for 30 years. According to a source he intends to join Snap Inc. as a social media company, and report directly back to Evan Spiegel.
Murray's 27-year career included roles as special agent, investigator, deputy director of protection operations, and director. He was the 26th director of the Secret Service, and will retire on July 30, 2022.
Murray was involved during his time at the Secret Service in the coordination and planning of the agency's global protection mission. These included the investigations of threats against presidential candidates and transitions. In addition, he led the Secret Service's investigation of crimes targeting financial infrastructure and its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Murray has also been involved with many other projects. He was featured in the episode "Drunk History: UK" (Elizabeth I) in 2017.
