FAQ

How does the brain regulate the functions of the body?

The brain communicates with other organs to ensure their cooperation. The brain controls everything that happens in your body. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.

Your brain is made up billions of nerve cell networks connected in groups known as neurons. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Each neuron has a cell membrane surrounding its nucleus. Inside the membrane are channels that allow ions such as sodium and potassium to enter and leave the cell. Ion movement is what causes the neurons to fire.

Neurotransmitters are chemicals released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters attach to the receptors of the second neuron and open ions channels for ions to pass in and out. In turn, the second neuron also fires.

Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds directly to the receptors in the postsynaptic nervous neuron, and triggers the firing.

Communication within the nervous system is possible thanks to neurotransmitters. They coordinate brain activity among different parts.

Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?

The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!

Most of the trash ends up at incinerators and landfills. But, what happens to those dumpsters? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. Mike Sexton is his real name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We see big rigs coming through town and we'll follow them. "Sexton began to follow truck drivers around 20 years ago.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton recalls, "The guy was searching for somewhere to put his loads." "He drove down the street and saw this building. He stopped and pulled up, then he went inside. "There were two enormous roll-off containers filled with stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was a complete mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.

This is the reason why it happened. The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.

This could happen hundreds of time per week. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.

Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.

The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some are washed into rivers and oceans. Others end up with fish in their stomachs.

Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist of actors?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list isn’t available for public viewing. We don't know the names. But, here's why it matters.

The secret reason is that directors and actors who are on the blacklist would not be able to find employment. This would result in studios losing money as the actors and directors would have to go out on their own. Which means they'd cut back on spending money on movies. The blacklisted filmmakers would have fewer chances. They could go bankrupt.

This could eventually lead to more victims.

In other words, if someone is trying to make an Oscar winning movie, they might have to sign a contract that says they won't speak openly against their employers. The same goes for any director or producer who wants to get nominated for an award.

That's why you hear stories about how producers pressure directors to remove scenes from their films. Directors may threaten to quit projects that don’t align with their vision.

This is why Hollywood keeps a blacklist. Negative comments about your employer will most likely lead to you being unemployed. This is bad news for anyone.

Problem is, many people have been falsely charged. And they've had to fight to clear their name.

This kind of thing must stop before it can happen again. We need to ensure everyone has the right of expression.

So we need to take down the Hollywood blacklist.

Why do actors get blacklisted in the first place?

When you're an actor, there's more rejection than when you're a writer. If you're an actor, you'll probably get rejected a lot. It doesn't matter, because you will eventually find someone you love.

Actors are usually very talented, meaning they can make a living almost anywhere. Most actors don't care about making money. They love acting, and they love telling stories. If you are an actor, you will most likely put yourself out there.

It is possible to be told that you are not suitable for the role, or that you are too old or too young. Or you might audition for a movie and lose out to another person. It happens all too often.

After you've been cast, there may be criticism. Many people will tell you you look horrible or that you shouldn't be wearing make-up. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.

Sometimes it's because you play a character that's not realistic or authentic. You might play a gay man and everyone assumes that you are straight. Or maybe you play a woman who is supposed to be tough, but she cries a lot.

Sometimes, they ask you to change your voice. Sometimes they ask for you to sound like a male or female. Most of the time, however, they want to hear better.

The best way to deal with these criticisms is to ignore them. Actors often feel that they've failed if they are told they did something wrong. However, they aren't doing anything wrong.

They didn't have the talent to make them famous. Sometimes, no matter what they do, they just don't fit the bill.

There are many reasons an actor might be blacklisted. Some people don't like actors. Others believe actors are lazy. Some actors may be cheaters.

No matter what the reason, you won't be blacklisted if your persistence persists. There are plenty of jobs available and you'll find them.

You will eventually succeed if you keep trying.
