They may be abandoned by war, natural disasters or other reasons. No matter the reason, these cities were essential to the human race.

Dwarves. Elves. Titans. Fairies once lived in these cities. The buildings of the lost city were destroyed by the residents who moved on to other cities or died. These buildings now have valuable loot and are protected by parasites.

Machu Picchu is one the most iconic lost cities of the world. Machu Picchu was constructed by the Incas in the early sixteenth century, but it was abandoned several centuries later. Caral, located in Peru's Supe Valley, is another of the lost cities. This area is believed to have been inhabited sometime between 2600 BC, and 2000 BC. A large plaza is surrounded on all sides by six large platform mummies. Modern estimates suggest that the population ranges from 40,000 to 50,000.

Cuzco, El Dorado and Hattusa are just three of the lost cities in South America. Archeologists have been able find evidence of the existence of these cities, even though they aren't confirmed. A short British soap opera based on El Dorado's story was produced in the 1990s.

Ciudad Perdida was once an impressive city. Located in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, it was reconstructed in the 1980s. It featured a circular plaza and a network tiled roads. The Spanish conquest of Spain saw the city abandoned. Some surviving residents maintained contacts with the city's previous inhabitants. Others identified themselves simply as Pompeiiians.

FAQ

Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?

According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.

The majority of this garbage ends up in incinerators or landfills. But what happens when the dumpsters become full? It goes to the United States, where most of it is exported. It is then shipped out and dumped in other countries. This pollutes the ecosystems. But now we know, thanks to one man. Mike Sexton is his real name. He runs a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his days watching the movements of trucks transporting trash across North America. He reports back to us about the next steps.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN's Sexton said, "We have a lot to enjoy." "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began to follow truck drivers around 20 years ago.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton remembered, "The man was looking for somewhere to put the load." "He drove along the road and saw this structure. He stopped and pulled up, then he went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. "Then, he took everything out and started filling up the truck again. There were lots of old tires, rags furniture, mattresses, mattresses, cans, cans, and other items. It was a complete mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.

What is the explanation? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.

This can happen hundreds of times a week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The truck eventually stops running and the owner decides that it is time to get rid of the vehicle.

But, this isn't the only problem that our planet is facing.

These tiny plastic particles make up the majority of the particles. Some end up in incinerators or landfills. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.

Which is the most secretive city in the world?

The answer may shock you. This may make you feel uncomfortable as it challenges your perception of reality and the way we live. However, there's a reason for this place to exist. It's not what we would expect.

It was known as the City of God to the ancient Greeks. It was also called the City of Destruction in the Bible.

In India, it's called Kashi (Kashmir). It is called Novgorod (Russia).

However, in America it is called The Town that Disappeared.

One small New York State town with just 1,200 people vanished. A road sign pointing to the former location of the town was all that was left, except for a few bodies and cars.

This tiny community disappeared without leaving any clues as to where it went or when. Some say the earth swallowed it up. Others claim a meteorite strike destroyed it. Still, others say aliens took it away.

Whatever happened, the residents of this once-thriving community are convinced that their town isn't gone forever. They just moved to another city.

There's even a website that tracks the disappearances and recoveries of Zugspitz.

You might be wondering where this town went. It's in Switzerland, actually!

You can find Zugspitze at the border of Austria and Germany. Just beyond the summit of the mountain is a huge lake called Lake Zugspitze.

It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. Why does some vanish while others remain? I decided to investigate.

I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What causes a community to disappear? How can one place vanish from existence?

There are many theories regarding the phenomenon of towns disappearing. One theory says that a town disappears when all the buildings are demolished. Another theory is that the town moves to another place. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.

No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video examines both the history and current status.

Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?

Antarctica is home to the most mysterious and remote place on Earth.

This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike any other spot on Earth.

It is remote, isolated, and extremely difficult to visit. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.

Some of the most bizarre wildlife species can also be found in this natural wonder.

Let's find out how this mysterious destination became so famous.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica is named for no one. Some believe it means "land of ice." Others think it comes from Greek mythology.

Antarktis in ancient Greece was the name given the island where Zeus' twin brother brothers were born. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. Thus, the term antarctic.

Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason Antarctica has held a special fascination for people, it is undeniable.

It is the highest, coldest, windiest, dryest, and most populated continent. Because it is so cold, there aren't any trees, plants or animals.

Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.

Here are about 90% of all the living creatures on Earth. Here are approximately 50% of all the animal and plant species in the world.

What makes Antarctica so special? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.

This causes large ice masses to rise above the ground.

These glaciers are responsible for covering 80% of the continent. And they're growing larger every year.

The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.

The sea level will rise up to 200 feet if melting continues. It could result in massive flooding all over the world.

This does not mean that everyone is wrong. Some scientists think global warming might be beneficial. They say that as temperatures rise, the ice sheets might melt faster, causing floods that flush out tons of toxic chemicals from our soil and bodies.

Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.
