Radical Republicans frequently challenged Andrew Johnson's policy. They claimed that his policies were too gentle and would not achieve full equality for African-Americans. They also believed that black voting rights were essential to the power base of the South. They wanted to punish Confederates by making resources and other resources of the North unaffordable to them. He also asked the Southern states not ratify Amendment 14th, which granted citizenship for blacks. He opposed a bill to ratify Civil Rights Act, which was meant to end discrimination against African-Americans. He also vetoed a bill that would have established the Freedmen's Bureau.
Andrew Johnson was also the only Southern senator to stay loyal to the Union during the Civil War. He was the only senator to serve the Civil War duration. Johnson attacked Republicans with vile language throughout his presidency. On several occasions, he appeared to be drinking excessively. While he didn't win re-election for his first term in office, he was elected vice president in 1865.

People with sickle cells lack red blood cell. They become very sick when their blood becomes hardened and sticky.
You can use a bandage to stop bleeding if your cut is severe. For the wound to heal properly, blood must continue to flow. Doctors insert a needle into the injured area through the skin. This allows blood to drain from the area.
Doctors also insert tubes (catheters) into the artery near the site where the blood clot forms. This keeps the patient alive until the clot breaks up naturally.
