I wanted to know more about the mysterious disappearing towns. What makes a town disappear? How can a town disappear from existence?

There are several theories behind the disappearing of towns. One theory states that a town vanishes when all its buildings are destroyed. Another theory states that the town simply moves to another location. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.
