Cool Bug Facts

disturbing science facts

Insecta refers to insects belonging to the Insecta class in the Hemiptera. Entomologists classify them as true bugs. They have four legs, gills, and hair. You may already know their looks, but did your know that they have other distinguishing characteristics?

Insects belong to the invertebrates

Bugs are invertebrates, which means that they have both living and non-living parts. Insects have segmented bodies and exoskeletons made of chitin. Their body segments are organized into three main units: the head, thorax, and abdomen. Insects use these body segments to extract nutrients from their food. Insects use catabolic reactions to digest their food. These reactions break down complex macromolecules and create simple sugars and amino acid.

They are four-legged.

It's interesting to see that not all insects have the same number of legs as others. For example: butterflies have six legs, while locusts just have four. Jumping is done by insects using their front pairs.

They have gills

Many people are familiar with the fact some insects have gills. Insects breathe through their gills. They can also be used to view the environment around them. While most insects have eyes that are made up of many visual units, some species have compound eyes made up of hundreds of visual units. For example: Caterpillars have twelve sets of eyes and over 30,000 ommatidia.

They have hair

If you are interested in bugs, it is important to understand that their bodies have hair. Insects are the most diverse group of animals, and their sheer population makes them an interesting group to study. They play an important part in our environment, economy, and are fascinating to both humans as well as non-entomologists. Here are some fascinating facts about insects including their diet and jumping habits.

They produce methane

Methane is known to be a greenhouse chemical. It is released in the atmosphere by bugs such as termites. These creatures produce methane in their guts, and these gases are responsible for about 5 percent of global emissions. While methane is naturally occurring in the atmosphere, human activities account for 320 million tons of methane each year. The fossil fuel industries, which include the production and use of natural gas, are the biggest sources of methane.

They are ommatidia

Insects have compound eyes made of seven to eleven individual visual units. They can be used for many purposes. Some insects have more ommatidia then others. For example, the wingless-silverfish has fewer that 100 ommatidia while the dragonfly has around 30,000. It is interesting to note that male insects are more distinguishable than their female counterparts.

horrific facts

They have insane body parts

Insects are one of the most diverse groups of organisms in the world. They are not only important for the economies of many countries but also provide fascinating information to both humans and non-entomologists. For example, did you know that a grasshopper has ears on its belly? The grasshopper also has special organs in its hind legs for jumping. The grasshopper can leap the length of a basketball court. And, in addition to their amazing body parts, they were the first creatures to make sound.

FAQ

Did you know that there are approximately 1.6 billion metric tons of trash produced every day in the world?

According to the United Nations, the average person produces over 2.5 pounds of daily waste. That adds up to over 25 billion pounds of garbage per year!

Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his name. He runs a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his days watching the movements of trucks transporting trash across North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.

Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove along the road and saw this structure. He backed up and entered the building. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. "It was just an absolute mess. But it had been cleaned out before he came along. There wasn't any trash anywhere."

This is the reason why it happened. The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.

This could happen hundreds of time per week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.

Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.

The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.

Why are actors blacklisted?

If you are an actor, you will get more rejection than if you are a writer. Actors are likely to be rejected often. It doesn't matter, because you will eventually find someone you love.

Actors are typically very talented and can earn a living virtually anywhere. Actors aren't always interested in making a living. Actors enjoy acting and telling stories. So if you're an actor, chances are you're going to put yourself out there.

It is possible to be told that you are not suitable for the role, or that you are too old or too young. You might also lose your audition for a film role. It happens all the times.

You may be criticised once your casting is complete. People will tell you that you look terrible or shouldn't be wearing makeup. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.

Sometimes it's because you play a character that's not realistic or authentic. Maybe you play a gay man, and everyone thinks you're straight. Maybe you are a woman who is tough but cries often.

Sometimes they might ask you to change how you speak. Sometimes they ask you to sound like either a boy or a girl. Most times, though, they want you to sound better.

These criticisms should be ignored. Actors often feel like they've failed if they're told they did something wrong. But they're not guilty of anything.

They just weren't born with the talent that made them famous. They may not fit the bill sometimes, no mater how hard they try.

Blacklisting can happen for many reasons. Some people don't like actors. Others believe actors are lazy. Others believe actors cheat.

It doesn't matter what reason it may be, you won’t be banned if you keep trying. There are many jobs out there and you'll be able to find them.

As long as you keep trying, you'll eventually succeed.

How does your brain control the functions within your body?

The brain sends messages to other organs and muscles to ensure they work together. The brain controls everything that happens in your body. It tells both your stomach and lungs what to do; it also controls your legs and arms.

Your brain consists of billions of nerve cells connected in groups called neurons. Neurons communicate with each other by sending electrical signals called action potentials on axons. Every neuron has an outer cell membrane that surrounds its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

Neurotransmitters, chemical substances that are released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. In turn, the second neuron also fires.

Neurotransmitter production occurs when a neuron in the presynaptic receives an impulsive signal from another. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, triggering the firing of the postsynaptic neuron.

For communication within the nervous systems, neurotransmitters are essential. They are also responsible for coordinating activity between various parts of the brain.
