FAQ
Is there a Hollywood blacklist of actors?
There is a Hollywood blacklist.
But the list isn't made public. The names are not known to us. But, here's why it matters.
The secret reason is that directors and actors who are on the blacklist would not be able to find employment. So they'd go out of business, which means that the studios would lose money. Which means they'd cut back on spending money on movies. Which would mean fewer opportunities for the blacklisted filmmakers. This could lead to them going bankrupt.
This could result in even more victims.
A contract may be required to agree to not speak against employers if someone attempts to make an Oscar winning movie. Any director or producer who would like to be nominated for an award is subject to the same rules.
Producers often pressure directors to cut scenes from their films. Directors might threaten to leave projects that don't reflect their vision.
This is why there is a Hollywood blacklist. If you are negative about your employer, you'll most likely go unemployed. That's bad for everyone.
The problem is that many people have been falsely accused. These people have had to fight to clear their names.
This is unacceptable behavior and must be stopped. It is essential that everyone has the freedom to express their opinions.
We must get rid of the Hollywood blacklist.
Did you know that there are approximately 1.6 billion metric tons of trash produced every day in the world?
According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.
Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. It is then shipped out and dumped in other countries. This pollutes the ecosystems. But now we know, thanks to one man. His name is Mike Sexton. He runs a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his days watching the movements of trucks transporting trash across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.
Sexton claims he is very satisfied with his job. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.
He said, "I fell in love with it."
His favorite story involved a driver who pulled off at an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton remembered, "The man was looking for somewhere to put the load." "He drove down the street and saw this building. He stopped and pulled up, then he went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just total chaos. But it had been cleaned out before he came along. There wasn’t trash everywhere."
What is the explanation? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.
This could happen hundreds of time per week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.
Trash is not the only problem our planet faces.
The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some are washed into rivers and oceans. Others end up with fish in their stomachs.
Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.
Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?
Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.
What is it that makes this place so interesting? Because it's unlike any other place in the world.
It is isolated, remote, and very hard to visit. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.
You'll also find the strangest species of wildlife in this natural wonder.
Let's find out how this mysterious destination became so famous.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica is not known by anyone. Others believe it means "land with ice". Others think it comes from Greek mythology.
Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. Hence, the word antarctic.
Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.
No matter the reason, Antarctica is a place that has always fascinated people.
It is the continent with the lowest, windiest and highest temperatures. There are no trees, plants, or animals here because it is too cold.
Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.
It houses approximately 90% of all Earth's living organisms. Here are approximately 50% of all the animal and plant species in the world.
What makes Antarctica so special? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.
This causes large amounts of ice to float above ground.
These floating glaciers cover 80% of the continent. These glaciers are getting larger each year.
The Antarctic ice has grown 60 feet so far since 1960.
If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.
But not everyone thinks this is bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.
Others warn that this theory sounds like something out of a science-fiction movie.
What are the darkest secrets of Hollywood?
Hollywood is filled with secret societies. Some secret societies are cultlike groups that have strict rules and rituals. Other clubs are for people who share common interests.
However, there are many other criminal organizations that hold much of the industry's power. These include companies such as the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), which sets film ratings, and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), which sets music licensing fees.
Many unions and guilds represent actors, directors writers, producers, and others. Large corporations own most major studios and networks of television.
The point is that no matter how secretive any group may seem, someone somewhere knows exactly what they do. However, we shouldn't fear them.
Instead, we should embrace and celebrate them. Because they help us make better choices.
They also tell us about the movies that are most likely to succeed and which songs are most popular.
They allow us to make informed decisions about what we buy, watch and listen to.
We can trust them and can disregard their advice if it is not in line with our preferences.
We choose to ignore them and they become even more powerful. They become the ultimate arbiters of taste.
If you don't like their words, you can choose to ignore them.
Now let's take a look at some lesser-known yet very real Hollywood secret society.
Observe why they are important.
