Among the hundreds of podcasts on the National Public Radio (NPR) docket, there is one that stands out from the crowd. It's the name of a podcast that discusses a variety topics such as biology, psychology, medicine and other subjects, though in an unconventional way. This program aims to offer a glimpse into the mind, heart and soul of an exceptional subject matter expert.
This program is produced by a well-known scientist and entrepreneur named Shankar Vedantam, and the resulting audio program is available on hundreds of public radio stations nationwide. Vedantam is an ex-reporter at The Washington Post. Recently, Vedantam left the newsroom in order to start his own independent production firm. His new job gives him the chance to explore topics that are otherwise out of reach for freelancers.
Although the show had a modest budget, it did not compromise on science. The result is an excellent show that all listeners should enjoy. It's no surprise that Hidden Brain has been named to NPR's Top 25 List of Most Popular Podcasts. Hidden Brain is almost three million downloaded. It's hard to believe that Hidden Brain didn't become a regular feature on NPR’s weekly schedule. It is back after a three-year absence. Hopefully, the show's return will be a welcome one. The podcast's biggest challenge will be finding new material to cover. The Hidden Brain's biggest challenge will be finding new material. Vedantam, fortunately, is a master of many trades. The show's content is as diverse as its subject matter.
Vedantam, aside from his podcast, has been a prominent science enthusiast. He co-founded a production company, has written two books on neuroscience, and published some research papers. As the title suggests, Vedantam is a true believer in science. One of the most significant achievements of Vedantam's show was setting a high standard in public radio's otherwise murky waters. We can only imagine the show's greatest days yet.

The show's best days are behind us as with many NPR programs. However, you can bet Shankar Vedantam is still looking for new opportunities. Hopefully, this podcast will continue to be the brainchild of a well-informed journalist. You might want to grab a few listeners next time you are stuck at work and enjoy a cocktail with them. Hopefully, you'll find the hidden brain of yours and learn something in the process. Until next time, happy podcasting! We wish you all the best. This program is a success because it is simple: make the most of what's available. Everyone needs some help from time-to-time. Although it may have been a long time coming for the hidden mind, it is certain that the show will be a success thanks to its newest occupants.
FAQ
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
The United Nations estimates that the average person generates more than 2.5 pounds of waste each day. This adds up to over 25 million pounds of garbage annually!
Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. His name is Mike Sexton. He is the founder of Waste Watchers. He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. He reports back to us about the next steps.
Sexton says he finds his job very satisfying. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.
He stated, "I just fell in Love with It."
Sexton loved the story about the driver who pulled over at an abandoned gas station close to Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove down the road and saw this building. He pulled over and went in. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. "Then he took out everything and began to fill up the truck. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. It was a complete mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.
This is the reason why it happened. It is because the location used to belong to a recycling centre. People who found out about this facility would drive to it to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.
This could happen hundreds of time per week. It can happen hundreds of time per week. Eventually, the truck is so full of junk it stops running. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
But, this isn't the only problem that our planet is facing.
The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some end up in rivers and oceans, while others end up in fish's stomachs.
Experts warn that if there is no change, the world could soon be facing a food shortage. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.
Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?
Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.
Why is this place so amazing? Because it is unlike anything else on Earth.
It is difficult to access because it is remote and extremely isolated. This site has more to it than meets your eye.
You'll also find the strangest species of wildlife in this natural wonder.
Let's find out how this mysterious destination became so famous.
Antarctica, The South Pole
Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some believe it means "land of ice." Others believe it comes from Greek mythology.
In ancient Greece, Antarktis was the name given to the island where Zeus' twin brothers were born. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. Hence, the word antarctic.
Others believe that it is the Greek word anti, which means against, and tropos, which refers to turning. This would mean land turned away from the sun.
Whatever the reason Antarctica has held a special fascination for people, it is undeniable.
It is the continent with the lowest, windiest and highest temperatures. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.
This frozen wasteland is still alive.
About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What is Antarctica? Here, water freezes into ice instead of evaporating into the air.
This results in large masses of ice floating above the ground.
These floating glaciers make up 80%. And they're growing larger every year.
The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.
If the melting continues, sea level could rise up to 200ft. This could lead worldwide flooding.
However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Global warming may be beneficial for some scientists. They claim that the melting of ice sheets could accelerate as temperatures rise. This would lead to flooding that removes tons of toxic chemicals and soil from our bodies.
Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.
What dark secrets can Hollywood keep from you?
Hollywood is full secret societies. There are secret societies that are more cult-like than others. They have members who follow specific rules and rituals. While some are clubs for those with similar interests, others are not.
However, there are many other criminal organizations that hold much of the industry's power. Companies such as the MPAA, which determines film ratings, or the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), that set music licensing fees, are examples of these.
Numerous unions/guilds also represent actors and directors as well as writers, producers, and so forth. These large corporations control the majority of major film studios and television networks.
It is obvious that, no matter how secretive or obtuse a group appears, someone knows exactly what they do. But that doesn't mean we should fear them.
Instead, we should embrace them. Because they can help us make better decisions.
These people tell us what movies and songs will succeed, and which books will sell best.
They help us make decisions about what we will buy, watch, listen to, or read.
We can trust them and can disregard their advice if it is not in line with our preferences.
We choose to ignore them and they become even more powerful. They are the ultimate judges of taste.
You can ignore them if they don't agree with you.
Let's now take a look into some lesser-known but very real Hollywood secret societies.
You'll see why they are so important.
Which is the most secretive city in the world?
You might be surprised at the answer. It might even make you uncomfortable because it challenges our perception of reality and how we live. But there is a reason that this place exists. It isn't what you would expect.
It was also called the City of God in ancient Greek. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.
It is also called Kashi in India (Kashmir). It is called Novgorod (Russia).
Here in America, however, it is called The Village That Disappeared.
A small town in western New York State, with a population of 1,200, vanished without a trace. It was abandoned without any remains, including no bodies, cars, or houses. The only thing that survived was a road sign, which pointed to its former location.
This little community vanished and no trace remains to indicate where or when it disappeared. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Some claim it was destroyed by a meteorite impact. Still, others say aliens took it away.
Regardless of what happened, residents of this once-thriving town are certain that their town won't be forgotten forever. They just moved to another city.
A website is available to track the disappearance and recovery of Zugspitz, which was lost in the Great Depression.
Then, where is it? Well, it's in Switzerland!
Zugspitze is located on the border between Germany and Austria. Lake Zugspitze lies just above the summit of the mountain.
It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. Why do some disappear while others survive? I decided that I would investigate.
I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. Is it possible for a place to vanish? How can one place become extinct?
There are many theories to explain the phenomenon of disappearing towns. One theory states that a town vanishes when all its buildings are destroyed. Another theory is that the town moves to another place. A third theory states that the town didn't exist at all.
There are many theories, but the truth is that thousands of towns around the world have been submerged by the earth. This video looks into the history of those places and investigates their current status.
