FAQ

How does the brain control the functions of your body?

The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells your stomach how to digest food and your lungs how to inhale oxygen; it also tells your arms, legs and feet to move.

Your brain consists of billions of nerve cells connected in groups called neurons. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Every neuron has an outer cell membrane that surrounds its nucleus. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The neuron is lit by an electric charge created by the movement of ions.

When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters bind with receptors on the second nerve cell, opening ion channel channels to allow ions in and out. As a result, the second neuron fires too.

When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. An impulse travels along a synapse that connects the two neurons. The transmitter binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, triggering the firing of the postsynaptic neuron.

Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They are also responsible for coordinating activity between various parts of the brain.

What is the most fascinating fact about the human body

There are two eyes, two ears. Two nostrils. Four limbs. A mouth, nose and penis. Yes, more than 50 parts to our bodies. But one thing is missing. A heart.

A heart is a pump that circulates blood throughout the body. The blood moves through the arteries and veins to transport oxygen and nutrients into the cells, and remove carbon dioxide.

Each minute, the heart pumps approximately 5 liters. This is equivalent in daily coffee consumption to an adult who consumes approximately 2 to 3 cups.

The heart is constantly pumping blood, 24 hours a week, 365 day a year. While you are sleeping, your heart beats about 100 times per second.

Skin color can be used to determine if someone has a medical condition. The capillaries are tiny blood vessels that can be seen on the skin's surface. These small vessels carry blood from the large blood vessel in the skin back towards the heart. The skin becomes blue-colored or purple when blood flow is restricted.

People suffering from sickle cell disease have no red blood cells. Their blood becomes sticky and hardens, causing them to become very ill.

To stop bleeding from a cut, you can apply a bandage to the wound. The wound must remain open for blood to flow properly. To do this, doctors insert a needle through the skin into the vein next to the injury. This allows the blood from the injured area to drain.

Doctors also insert tubes (catheters) into the artery near the site where the blood clot forms. This keeps the patient occupied until the clot is broken down naturally.

Why are actors blacklisted?

An actor is more likely to get rejected than a writer. As an actor, it's likely that you will be rejected a lot. It doesn't matter, because you will eventually find someone you love.

Actors can often make a living from acting because they are very talented. However, most actors aren't interested in making money. Actors love acting and storytelling. So if you're an actor, chances are you're going to put yourself out there.

It is possible to be told that you are not suitable for the role, or that you are too old or too young. Or, you could lose out on a role in a movie. It happens all the times.

You may be criticised once your casting is complete. People will tell you that you look terrible or shouldn't be wearing makeup. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.

Sometimes it's because you play a character that's not realistic or authentic. You might play a gay man and everyone assumes that you are straight. Or maybe you play a woman who is supposed to be tough, but she cries a lot.

Or maybe you're asked to change your voice. Sometimes, they want you to sound more like a man or a woman. They will usually ask you to sound better.

To ignore criticisms is the best way to respond. Actors can feel like they have failed when they are told they did something wrong. But they're not guilty of anything.

They weren't born with a talent that made them famous. Sometimes they don't fit that bill no matter how hard or if they try.

There are lots of reasons why an actor could get blacklisted. Some people don't like actors. Others think actors can be lazy. Others believe actors cheat.

Whatever the reason, it's important to realize that you will not get blacklisted if you keep trying. There are plenty of jobs available and you'll find them.

If you persevere, you will eventually succeed.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

However, the list isn’t public. As far as we are aware, the names are not even known. But, here's why it matters.

The secret reason is that directors and actors who are on the blacklist would not be able to find employment. They would go out of business which would mean that studios would lose their money. That would result in a reduction in spending on movies. Which would mean fewer opportunities for the blacklisted filmmakers. Which would lead them to go bankrupt.

This could result in even more victims.

In other words, if someone is trying to make an Oscar winning movie, they might have to sign a contract that says they won't speak openly against their employers. The same goes for any director or producer who wants to get nominated for an award.

That's why you hear stories about how producers pressure directors to remove scenes from their films. Directors might threaten to leave projects that don't reflect their vision.

This is why Hollywood has created a blacklist. You'll likely become unemployed if you say bad things about your employer. This is bad news for anyone.

There are many people who have been falsely accused. They have had to fight for their freedom.

This kind of thing must stop before it can happen again. Everybody should be able to freely express themselves.

We must get rid of the Hollywood blacklist.
