What is the most mysterious area on earth?
Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.
Why is this place so amazing? Because it is unlike anything else on Earth.
It is isolated, remote, and very hard to visit. It is not what you see.
You will also find some of the oddest wildlife species in this natural wonder.
Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica is named for no one. Some believe it is "land of the ice". Others believe it derives from Greek mythology.
In ancient Greece, Antarktis was the name given to the island where Zeus' twin brothers were born. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.
Others believe that the name is a combination of the Greek words anti and tropos which mean against and turn. This would mean land turned away from the sun.
Whatever the reason Antarctica holds a special fascination, people have always loved it.
It is also the lowest, windiest continent, driest, and highest. It is too cold for trees, plants and animals.
Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.
About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. Here are approximately 50% of all the animal and plant species in the world.
What is Antarctica? Here, water is frozen into ice rather than vaporizing into the air.
This results in large masses of ice floating above the ground.
These floating glaciers cover over 80%. They're getting bigger every year.
So far, the Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60 feet since 1960.
If the melting continues, the sea level will rise by up to 200 feet. This could lead to massive flooding across the globe.
This is not necessarily bad news. Some scientists claim that global warming could be good for us. They say that as temperatures rise, the ice sheets might melt faster, causing floods that flush out tons of toxic chemicals from our soil and bodies.
However, others caution that this theory sounds a lot like a plot in a science fiction movie.
What dark secrets can Hollywood keep from you?
Hollywood is full secret societies. Many secret societies are cult-like and follow rigid rules. Others are just clubs for people with common interests.
There are also other, more evil organizations that control large parts of the industry. These include companies like the MPAA ("Motion Picture Association of America"), which determines film ratings. The RIAA ("Recording Industry Association of America") sets music licensing fees.
Numerous unions and guilds also represent actors, directors, writers, producers, etc. These large corporations control the majority of major film studios and television networks.
It doesn't really matter how secretive an organization may appear, there is always someone who knows exactly what they do. But that doesn't mean we should fear them.
Instead, embrace them. Because they offer us information that can help us make better decision.
These experts tell us which movies are most likely to succeed, which songs will be in demand, and what books will sell the best.
In short, they help us decide what we'll buy, watch, read, and listen to.
Because we can trust them, we can ignore their advice when it conflicts with our tastes.
They are more powerful than ever because we chose to ignore them. They are the ultimate judges of taste.
They can be ignored if you don’t like what they have to say.
Let's take a closer look at some of the less-known, yet still very real Hollywood secret clubs.
You can see why they are so vital.
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.
Most of this trash ends up in landfill dumps or incinerators. But what happens when those dumpsters get full? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. It then gets dumped in foreign countries, polluting their ecosystems. However, now we know where all that trash goes. Mike Sexton is his nickname. He runs a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his days watching the movements of trucks transporting trash across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.
Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN spoke with Sexton that they have a lot fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.
"It's all I felt," he stated.
His favorite story involved a driver who pulled off at an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove down the street and saw this building. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was a complete mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There wasn't any trash anywhere."
This is the reason why it happened. This particular spot used to be a recycling center. People would drive there to recycle their trash. "They'd bring their household items and take them to this building," Sexton explained. And after they finished, they would leave the empty containers behind.
You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. It could happen hundreds of thousands of times a week. The truck eventually stops running because it has become so jammed with junk. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.
But, this isn't the only problem that our planet is facing.
The majority of these particles are made of small pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in rivers or oceans.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.

Hollywood scandals that shocked the world
Nothing is more shocking that seeing someone be famous for their wrong reasons. But there's also nothing worse than seeing them fall from grace.
It is amazing to see how an industry handles its mistakes. We've all heard stories of celebrities who used drugs and alcohol excessively. Some even died young because of it.
The worst thing is when these stars are made public about their problems and shunned. Last week, that's exactly where we were.
After a long and successful career, Heath Ledger finally succumbed to his demons. He died after succumbing to prescription drugs.
His family and his friends struggled with the news and the media went after him.
Heath was once thought to be one the greatest actors of all time. Two Academy Awards nominations went to Heath for his performance on Brokeback Mountain.
Heath not only acted, but also wrote and directed films including A Knight's Tale. Monster's Ball. Iron Man.
Hollywood loved Heath. But he was too big for his boots. He started taking drugs and drinking heavily. He ended up in rehab and became clean.
Now that he was sober, it was time to make amends. He created a documentary called Room 237, which documented the making of The Shining. It was supposed to hit theaters this year. However, it won't until next year.
Heath attempted to get into Hollywood every time. He was actually arrested twice for drug charges.
Although we don't think Heath should be allowed to return to the showbiz, It would have been nice, however, if he had received some help before things got out of control.
We hope Heath’s tale will be a wakeup call to anyone who may believe that they can still have all.
