FAQ

How does your brain control your body's functions?

The brain sends messages to other organs and muscles to ensure they work together. Your brain controls all that happens in your body. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.

Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Action potentials on Axons are an electrical signal that neurons send to each other. Each neuron has its own cell membrane around its nucleus. Inside the membrane are channels that allow ions such as sodium and potassium to enter and leave the cell. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters attach to the receptors of the second neuron and open ions channels for ions to pass in and out. As a result, the second neuron fires too.

Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. An impulse travels along a synapse that connects the two neurons. The transmitter binds directly to the receptors in the postsynaptic nervous neuron, and triggers the firing.

Communication within the nervous system is possible thanks to neurotransmitters. They coordinate activity between the different parts of your brain.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list isn’t available for public viewing. As far as we know, the names aren't even known. This is why it matters.

The secretive nature of the information is due to the fact that actors and directors on blacklist won't be in a position to find work. This would result in studios losing money as the actors and directors would have to go out on their own. That would result in a reduction in spending on movies. Which would mean fewer opportunities for the blacklisted filmmakers. This could lead to them going bankrupt.

This could result in even more victims.

If someone attempts to make an Oscar-winning movie, they may be asked to sign a contract stating that they will not speak out against their employers. For any producer or director that wants to be nominated, the same applies.

Producers often pressure directors to cut scenes from their films. Or how directors threaten to walk away from projects that don't fit their vision.

This is why there is a Hollywood blacklist. If you speak negatively about your employer, you will likely be fired. This is bad news for anyone.

It is not uncommon for people to be falsely accused. It's been a struggle to get their names cleared.

We need to stop this kind of thing before it starts happening again. Everyone should have the right to speak freely.

Also, we must take down the Hollywood blacklist.

What is the most mysterious area on earth?

Antarctica is home to the most mysterious and remote place on Earth.

Why is this place so amazing? It is unlike any other place on Earth.

It is remote and difficult to reach. This site has more to it than meets your eye.

You'll also find the strangest species of wildlife in this natural wonder.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica: The South Pole

It is not known why Antarctica was called Antarctica. Some believe it is "land of the ice". Others believe it derives from Greek mythology.

Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. One of the twins was said to have been born in winter. Hence, the word antarctic.

Others believe that the name comes from the Greek words anti meaning against and tropos meaning to turn. This would mean land turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason Antarctica has always been a fascination for people.

It is the driest, windiest of all continents. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, the frozen desert is alive with life.

It houses approximately 90% of all Earth's living organisms. There are about 50% of the world's animal, plant and plant species.

What is Antarctica? Here, water freezes in ice rather that vaporizing into the atmosphere.

This causes large amounts of ice to float above ground.

These floating glaciers make up 80%. And they're growing larger every year.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet has grown 60 feet in the past 60 years.

If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. This could lead worldwide flooding.

This does not mean that everyone is wrong. Some scientists think global warming might be beneficial. They suggest that rising temperatures could cause ice sheet melt faster, leading to floods that flush out toxic chemicals from soil and bodies.

But others warn that this theory sounds like a plot from a science fiction movie.

Have you ever wondered how much trash is produced worldwide each day?

The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. Mike Sexton is his name. He is the founder of Waste Watchers. He watches over trucks that transport trash across North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.

Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.

Sexton's favorite story was about a driver who stopped at an abandoned gas station in Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove along the road and saw this structure. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. "It was just a total mess. But it had been cleaned out before he came along. There wasn't any trash."

So why did this happen? This particular spot used to be a recycling center. People would drive there to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.

You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. It could happen hundreds of thousands of times a week. The truck eventually stops running because it has become so jammed with junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.

Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.

Plastic pieces make up most of these particles. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts warn us that we may soon face an international food shortage if things don't change. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.
