FAQ
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
The United Nations states that an average person produces more than 2.5 pounds of waste per day. That's over 25 billion pounds of garbage each year!
Most of the trash ends up at incinerators and landfills. But, what happens to those dumpsters? It goes to the United States, where most of it is exported. It is then shipped out and dumped in other countries. This pollutes the ecosystems. But now we know, thanks to one man. Mike Sexton is his nickname. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He reports back to us about the next steps.
Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN asked Sexton if he thought it was a lot of fun. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.
He said, "I fell in love with it."
Sexton's favorite story was about a driver who stopped at an abandoned gas station in Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He saw the building as he drove down the road. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just an absolute mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There wasn't any trash anywhere."
This is the reason why it happened. It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that they would bring household items and take them to the building. Then, after they were done, they would empty the containers.
This could happen hundreds of time per week. It could happen hundreds of thousands of times a week. The truck eventually stops running because it has become so jammed with junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.
Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Some end up in rivers and oceans, while others end up in fish's stomachs.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. Experts warn, "If you keep going like you're going," we could soon face a global food shortage. But most people don't seem to be worried, even though scientists are unanimous in warning us that the world is heading towards disaster.
Is there a Hollywood blacklist of actors?
There is an Hollywood blacklist.
But the list isn't made public. We don't know the names. This is why it matters.
The secret is because the directors and actors on blacklist wouldn't have any job opportunities. Thus, they would leave the industry and studios will lose money. That would result in a reduction in spending on movies. Which would mean fewer opportunities for the blacklisted filmmakers. They could go bankrupt.
This could result in even more victims.
If someone attempts to make an Oscar-winning movie, they may be asked to sign a contract stating that they will not speak out against their employers. For any producer or director that wants to be nominated, the same applies.
Producers often pressure directors to cut scenes from their films. Directors threaten to abandon projects that don’t conform to their vision.
This is why Hollywood has created a blacklist. Negative comments about your employer will most likely lead to you being unemployed. It's not good for anyone.
Problem is, many people have been falsely charged. And they've had to fight to clear their name.
This must be stopped before it happens again. We need to ensure everyone has the right of expression.
Also, we must take down the Hollywood blacklist.
How does the brain control the functions in your body?
The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. Everything that happens within your body is controlled by the brain. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.
Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Each neuron is covered by a cell membrane. Channels within the membrane allow ions such potassium and sodium to enter and leave the cells. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.
Neurotransmitters are chemicals released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters are able to bind to receptors in the second neuron. This opens ion channels that allow ions to flow in and out. In turn, the second neuron also fires.
Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along an synapse between the neurons. The transmitter binds directly to the receptors in the postsynaptic nervous neuron, and triggers the firing.
Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They also help coordinate activity between different parts of the brain.
Which is the most mysterious spot on Earth?
Antarctica is home to the most mysterious and remote place on Earth.
This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike any place on Earth.
It is very remote and isolated. This site has more to it than meets your eye.
These wild animals are also found in this natural wonder.
Let's see how this incredible destination became famous for its mystery.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica's name is a mystery. Some believe it refers to "land of ice". Some believe it means "land of ice". Others believe it is Greek mythology.
Antarktis is the name Antarktis was given to an island in ancient Greece by Zeus' twin brothers. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.
Others believe that the name is a combination of the Greek words anti and tropos which mean against and turn. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.
Whatever the reason Antarctica has always been a fascination for people.
It is also the lowest, windiest continent, driest, and highest. There are no trees, plants, or animals here because it is too cold.
Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.
About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What is it that makes Antarctica so unique? Here, water freezes into ice instead of evaporating into the air.
This results in large masses of ice floating above the ground.
These floating glaciers cover over 80%. They are growing in size every year.
The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.
The sea level will rise up to 200 feet if melting continues. This could lead to widespread flooding.
However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists think global warming might be beneficial. According to scientists, global warming could be good for us because the melting of the ice sheets will accelerate, which can lead to floods that release toxic chemicals into our soil and bodies.
Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.
