The Most Scariest Things About Humans

scary historical facts

Did you also know that cremated remains average between three and nine pounds in weight? In the past, people believed freshly-exercised human blood was healing. They would pay executioners warm to drink it from the gallows. It was not uncommon to get killed while skydiving or dancing. London's mayor, in 1665, ordered six-foot graves to be made for the dead. This was done in an effort to prevent death and disease. In the Victorian Era widows were expected to remain in their graves for at least two years before being cremated.

Locked-in Syndrome

Locked in syndrome is a medical condition that can cause severe brain damage. It can impact your quality-of-life and may require long term treatment. It is most commonly caused by damage of the pons. This contains important neuronal paths and motor fibers. These fibers connect the grey matter in the brain to the spinal cord. When these fibers are interrupted, locked-in syndrome can occur. It can also affect facial control and the speaking centers of your brain.

Amoebae

Amoebas are one of the smallest forms on Earth. Amoebas may not be dangerous, but they are very strange creatures. Amoebas don't have stomachs, but instead surround their prey and slowly consume them. They are also able to stay in the victim's prison cell for extended periods of time.

Syphilis

Syphilis can be a deadly disease that can lead to life-threatening complications. Early detection is vital because if caught in its early stages, it is curable. Secondary and third-degree complications can lead, in some cases, to death. Syphilis symptoms can vary from one person to another. Some of the symptoms include sore throat, hair loss, and fever. In severe cases, the infection can even affect the brain and heart.

Sleep paralysis due to locked-in syndrome

A common complication to stroke is Locked in Syndrome. This happens when nerves in the brainstem become damaged. This results in a paralysis of the body. It can cause paralysis and difficulty breathing, walking, and speaking. The most common cause of locked-in syndrome is ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. This condition is often difficult to diagnose but there are certain steps doctors can take to help their patients.

Humans shed a lot.

In fact, scientists estimate that humans shed a staggering amount of skin each year - from 0.03 to 0.09 grams per hour. This amounts to about 35 kilograms per person over their lifetime. These tiny flakes are the main component of house dust. As the flakes contain squalene oil, they react with ozone to pollute air in homes, offices, and even aeroplanes. There are many ways to prevent skin accumulation in your home without compromising air quality.

Alchemists used brain matter for elixirs of eternal life

Alchemists sought the secret of immortality for many years. Many theories have been put forward in search of this substance. One source suggests the Holy Grail is the source of the secret ingredient to eternal life. Other sources mention the Hindu scriptures as describing Amrita, a drink that gods use to drink. It is made from an ocean milk. It is also called Nectar or Ambrosia by the Greeks.

disturbing facts about the world

Sleep paralysis can be caused by dead skin

Sleep paralysis, a sleep disorder that hinders your ability to have a restful night of sleep, is known as insomnia. Poor sleep quality and insomnia are two of the most common causes. But, you can prevent it by practicing good sleeping hygiene. This includes avoiding the use of electronics before bed, avoiding naps during the day, and avoiding stimulants near bedtime.

Locked-in Syndrome causes hair to grow back after death

The locked-in syndrome is not as well known today as it once was. Scientists have never been able solve this mystery. Now Locked-in Syndrome is less mysterious thanks to a number of scientific discoveries. This disorder was discovered by an Elle magazine editor. After the passing of her mother, she began to re-grow her hair. Her arm and hand began to twitch as well. She described the feeling she got from being able touch her nose. Marsh, who had never spoken out about her experience before, now speaks openly about it and offers an exclusive insight into the syndrome.

FAQ

What dark secrets do Hollywood have?

Hollywood is full of secret societies. Many secret societies are cult-like and follow rigid rules. Others are just clubs for people with common interests.

Some of the most powerful organizations in the industry are even more dangerous. These include the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), the organization that sets film ratings and RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America), the company that sets music licensing fees.

Many unions and guilds represent actors, directors writers, producers, and others. Large corporations own most major studios and networks of television.

The point is that no matter how secretive any group may seem, someone somewhere knows exactly what they do. But that doesn't mean we should fear them.

Instead, embrace them. Because they help us make better choices.

They tell us what movies will likely succeed, what songs will be popular, and what books will best sell.

In short, they help us decide what we'll buy, watch, read, and listen to.

Because we can trust them, we can ignore their advice when it conflicts with our tastes.

Because we have chosen to ignore their power, they are even more powerful. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.

And if you don't like what they say, you're free to ignore them.

Let's now look at some lesser-known, but still very real Hollywood secret organizations.

You can see why they are so vital.

Did you know that there are approximately 1.6 billion metric tons of trash produced every day in the world?

According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.

Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. Mike Sexton is his full name. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He then reports back about what happens next.

Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN spoke with Sexton that they have a lot fun. "We see big rigs coming through town and we'll follow them. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.

"I just fell in love with it," he said.

Sexton's favorite story was about a driver who stopped at an abandoned gas station in Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He saw the building as he drove down the road. So he pulled over and went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were lots of old tires, rags furniture, mattresses, mattresses, cans, cans, and other items. "It was just total chaos. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was no trash."

What is the explanation? The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton said that people would bring their household items to the building and then leave empty containers behind.

This could happen hundreds of time per week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.

Trash is not the only problem our planet faces.

Plastic pieces make up most of these particles. Some of these plastics end up in rivers or oceans.

Experts warn that the world may soon face a shortage of food if we don't make any changes. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.

Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?

Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.

Why is this place so amazing? Because it is unlike any place on Earth.

It is difficult to access because it is remote and extremely isolated. However, there's more to this location than meets the eye.

These wild animals are also found in this natural wonder.

Let's find out how this mysterious destination became so famous.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica is named for no one. Others believe it means "land with ice". Others believe it derives from Greek mythology.

Antarktis in ancient Greece was the name given the island where Zeus' twin brother brothers were born. One of the twins was said to have been born in winter. This is why the word "antarctic" was chosen.

Others believe that the name comes from the Greek words anti meaning against and tropos meaning to turn. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.

It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.

About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. There are about 50% of the world's animal, plant and plant species.

What is the secret to Antarctica's unique environment? Here, water freezes into ice instead of evaporating into the air.

This causes large masses to form of ice which float high above the ground.

These floating glaciers make up 80%. These glaciers are getting larger each year.

The Antarctic ice has grown 60 feet so far since 1960.

If the melting goes on, the sea level may rise by as much as 200 feet. This could lead to massive flooding across the globe.

Not everyone believes this is bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. They say that as temperatures rise, the ice sheets might melt faster, causing floods that flush out tons of toxic chemicals from our soil and bodies.

However, others caution that this theory sounds a lot like a plot in a science fiction movie.

How does your brain control the functions within your body?

The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. Your body's functions are controlled by your brain. It tells the stomach to digest food, and the lungs to breath air. It also tells your legs and arms to move.

Your brain is made up of billions upon billions of nerve cells that are connected together in groups called neuronal groups. Action potentials on Axons are an electrical signal that neurons send to each other. Every neuron has a cell wall around its nucleus. Inside the membrane are channels that allow ions such as sodium and potassium to enter and leave the cell. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters are able to bind to receptors in the second neuron. This opens ion channels that allow ions to flow in and out. In turn, the second neuron also fires.

Neurotransmitter production occurs when a neuron in the presynaptic receives an impulsive signal from another. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds with the receptors of the postsynaptic nerve, activating the firing of the postsynaptic neurons.

The nervous system relies on neurotransmitters for communication. They coordinate activity between the different parts of your brain.

How To

American history's secret societies and clubs

Many reasons make American History's secret societies and clubs fascinating. They are mysterious because of this. Their impact on our society is another reason.

Secret societies and clubs have been used throughout America’s history to spread ideas that would otherwise be taboo. Anti-Semitism, racism, and other ideas are just a few of the many examples. These groups also helped spread political ideologies such as communism and socialism.

The Ku Klux Klan, the most famous American organization, is also the most important. This group was founded in 1865 following the Civil War. Its purpose was protect white men against African Americans.

Other organizations established during this period were the Knights Templars and Freemasons. These groups all shared similar goals and beliefs.

Another interesting aspect about secret societies is their ability to restrict memberships to men only. However, these groups had some female members. These women included Emma Goldman, Margaret Sanger, and Susan B Anthony.

There were other secret societies that did not share these ideals, in addition to those mentioned. The Order of Skull & Bones is an example of a secret society that was established in 1832. Their goal was to create an elite group within the United States.
