Mythology claims that Atlantis's inhabitants were extraordinarily powerful and created an advanced civilization. The Atlanteans conquered large swathes of Europe and Africa during this period, but ultimately fell prey to natural disaster. FAQ

Have you ever wondered what amount of trash is generated each day worldwide?

The United Nations estimates that the average person generates more than 2.5 pounds of waste each day. This adds up to over 25 million pounds of garbage annually!

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. His name is Mike Sexton. He is the owner of Waste Watchers. His job involves monitoring the movements and routes of trash trucks across North America. He then reports back about what happens next.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN spoke with Sexton that they have a lot fun. "We see big rigs coming through town and we'll follow them. "Sexton started following truck driver almost 20 years back.

He stated, "I just fell in Love with It."

Sexton loved the story about the driver who pulled over at an abandoned gas station close to Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He drove down the road to see this building. He backed up and entered the building. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man took all the stuff out and filled up his truck with more. "Then, he took everything out and started filling up the truck again. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. "It was just total chaos. But it was cleaned out before he came. There wasn't any trash."

So why did this happen? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton explained, "They would bring their household goods and take them here," and they would then empty the containers.

Now, because of the way the law works, once a container reaches its destination, it cannot be opened. So no matter how often someone takes something out of it, the thing will never be emptied.Every time the truck comes by, it has to start over again. It could happen hundreds of thousands of times a week. The truck eventually stops running because it has become so jammed with junk. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.

However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.

Many of these tiny plastic pieces end up in landfills and incinerators. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. One expert said, "If we keep going as we are going, we're never going to make it," but most people don’t seem concerned.

Is there a more mysterious place than the Earth itself?

Antarctica is the world's most mysterious place on Earth.

This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike any place on Earth.

It is remote, isolated, and extremely difficult to visit. It is not what you see.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica: The South Pole

It is not known why Antarctica was called Antarctica. Some say it means "land on ice." Others think it comes from Greek mythology.

In ancient Greece, Antarktis was the name given to the island where Zeus' twin brothers were born. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. Hence, the word antarctic.

Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.

It is also the lowest, windiest continent, driest, and highest. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, the frozen desert is alive with life.

Here are about 90% of all the living creatures on Earth. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.

What is Antarctica? Here, water freezes into ice instead of evaporating into the air.

This results in large masses of ice floating above the ground.

These floating glaciers make up 80%. And they're growing larger every year.

The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.

The sea level will rise up to 200 feet if melting continues. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

However, not all scientists believe this to be bad news. Some scientists suggest that global warming could actually be good for us. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.

Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.

What is the most secretive town in the world?

It may surprise you to hear the answer. It might even make you uncomfortable because it challenges our perception of reality and how we live. But there is a reason why this place exists. And it is not what you would expect.

It was also called the City of God in ancient Greek. It was called the City of Destruction by the Bible.

In India, it's called Kashi (Kashmir). It is also called Novgorod in Russia.

But here in America, it goes by another name - The Town That Disappeared.

A small town in western New York State, with a population of 1,200, vanished without a trace. With the exception of a road marker pointing to its former site, there were no remains: cars, bodies, houses.

This little town disappeared, leaving no clues about where it went or when. Some claim the earth swallowed it. Others claim a meteorite strike destroyed it. Still, others say aliens took it away.

Regardless of what happened, residents of this once-thriving town are certain that their town won't be forgotten forever. They had just moved to a new town.

There's even a website that tracks the disappearances and recoveries of Zugspitz.

Then, where is it? It's in Switzerland.

The border of Austria and Germany is at Zugspitze. Just beyond the summit of the mountain is a huge lake called Lake Zugspitze.

It has always fascinated and astonished me to see how many towns have vanished but still exist. Why do some disappear while others survive? I set out to find out.

I wanted more information about the mysterious disappearing of towns. What causes a community to disappear? What makes a place disappear?

There are many theories to explain the phenomenon of disappearing towns. One theory states that a town vanishes when all its buildings are destroyed. Another theory suggests that the town simply moves somewhere else. Another theory suggests that the town has never existed.

The fact is that hundreds of towns all over the world have been swept away by the ground, despite theories to the contrary. This video explores the history of these towns and examines their current state.
