horrible facts about the world

Did you know that the average weight of cremated remains is three to nine pounds? In the past, people believed that freshly-exercised blood had healing properties and would pay executioners to drink it warm from the gallows. It was not uncommon to get killed while skydiving or dancing. London's mayor, in 1665, ordered six-foot graves to be made for the dead. This was done in an effort to prevent death and disease. During the Victorian Era it was common for widows to rest in their graves for two more years. Then they would be cremated.

Locked-in Syndrome

Locked-in syndrome, a medical condition that causes brain damage, is known as a severe medical condition. This condition can have a significant impact on your quality of living and may need long-term treatment. The main cause is damage to the Pons, which contains important motor fibers and neuronal pathways. These fibers are responsible for connecting the grey matter in your brain to your spinal cord. When these fibers are interrupted, locked-in syndrome can occur. It can also affect the facial control and speaking centers of the brain.

Amoebae

One of the smallest forms, or lifeforms on earth is the amoeba. Although amoebas can be dangerous, they are extremely strange. Amoebas do not have stomachs. Instead, they surround their prey to slowly digest them. They are also able to stay in the victim's prison cell for extended periods of time.

Syphilis

Syphilis is a serious disease that can result in life-threatening complications. Early detection is vital because if caught in its early stages, it is curable. Secondary and third-degree complications can lead, in some cases, to death. Syphilis symptoms can vary from one person to another. Syphilis can cause sore throats, hair loss and fever. In severe cases, it can even affect your brain and heart.

Sleep paralysis is caused by the Locked In Syndrome

The most common complication after stroke is Locked in Syndrome. This occurs when the brainstem's nerves become damaged. The body becomes paralyzed. It can cause difficulty with walking, breathing and speaking. Most common causes of locked in syndrome are hemorhagic or ischemic stroke. Although this condition can be difficult to diagnose, doctors can help patients by taking certain steps to assist them.

Humans shed a lot.

Scientists have estimated that humans shed between 0.03 and 0.09 g each hour. This amounts to about 35 kilograms per person over their lifetime. These tiny flakes make up the majority of house dust. Because they contain squalene ole, the flakes can pollute indoor air. Fortunately, there are ways to keep skin from accumulating in your house without sacrificing air quality.

Alchemists used brain tissue to make elixirs that would give them eternal life.

Alchemists sought the secret of immortality for many years. Many theories have been proposed in the search for this substance. One source suggests that the Holy Grail may hold the secret to eternal youth. Other sources mention the Hindu scriptures as describing Amrita, a drink that gods use to drink. It is made from an ocean milk. It is sometimes called Nectar (or Ambrosia) by the Greeks.

FAQ

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. Everything in your body is controlled and managed by your brain. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.

Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Action potentials, which are electrical signals sent by neurons to each other via axons, allow them to communicate with one another. Each neuron is covered by a cell membrane. There are channels within the membrane that allow ions such a sodium or potassium to enter and exit the cell. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters bind with receptors on the second nerve cell, opening ion channel channels to allow ions in and out. As a result, the second neuron fires too.

When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. The impulse travels along an synapse between the neurons. The transmitter binds at the receptors of the post-synaptic Neuron and triggers its firing.

They are vital for the communication between nerve cells. They coordinate activity between the different parts of your brain.

Is there a Hollywood blacklist?

There is a Hollywood blacklist.

The list is not made public. According to our knowledge, the names of these people aren't known. It matters because of this.

The reason behind the secrecy was that blacklisted directors and actors wouldn't be able find work. This would result in studios losing money as the actors and directors would have to go out on their own. They would also cut back on their spending on movies. That would reduce the opportunities for blacklisted filmmakers. This could lead to them going bankrupt.

This could result in even more victims.

In short, when someone tries to make an oscar winning movie, they might be asked to sign a contract saying they won't speak publicly against their employers. Producers and directors who want to be nominated are subject to the same restrictions.

This is why you'll hear about directors being pressured by producers to take scenes out of their films. Directors may threaten to quit projects that don’t align with their vision.

This is why there is a Hollywood blacklist. You'll likely become unemployed if you say bad things about your employer. This is bad news for anyone.

Problem is, many people have been falsely charged. It's been a struggle to get their names cleared.

This is unacceptable behavior and must be stopped. It is essential that everyone has the freedom to express their opinions.

So we need to take down the Hollywood blacklist.

Have you ever wondered how much trash is produced worldwide each day?

According to the United Nations the average person creates more than 2.5 lbs of waste daily. That adds up over 25 billion kilos of garbage every year.

Many of this trash ends in landfill dumps, or incinerators. But what happens if those dumpsters are full? The majority of this rubbish is sent out of the country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. Mike Sexton is his name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. He then reports back to us on what happens next.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. "We've got a lot of fun," he told CNN. "We often see large rigs passing through our town and we will follow them. "Sexton began to follow truck drivers around 20 years ago.

He said, "I fell in love with it."

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove down the road to see this building. He pulled over and went in. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. The man removed everything from the truck and started to load it again. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. "It was just an absolute mess. It had been cleaned up before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.

Why did this happen? It's because this area used to be a recycle center. People would drive from all over the country to recycle their trash. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.

Now, because of the way the law works, once a container reaches its destination, it cannot be opened. So no matter how often someone takes something out of it, the thing will never be emptied.Every time the truck comes by, it has to start over again. This can happen hundreds of times a week.Eventually, the truck becomes so overloaded with junk that it stops running. And eventually, the owner decides to abandon the vehicle.

However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.

Many of these tiny plastic pieces end up in landfills and incinerators. Others end up in rivers, oceans or the stomachss of fish.

Experts warn that the world may soon face a shortage of food if we don't make any changes. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.

What is your most secretive community?

The answer to that question may shock you. It might even make you uncomfortable because it challenges our perception of reality and how we live. But there is a reason why this place exists. And it is not what you would expect.

It was called the City of God by ancient Greeks. According to the Bible, it was called the City of Destruction.

It's also known as Kashi (Kashmir) in India. It's also known as Novgorod in Russia.

But here in America, it goes by another name - The Town That Disappeared.

A small town in western New York State, with a population of 1,200, vanished without a trace. With the exception of a road marker pointing to its former site, there were no remains: cars, bodies, houses.

This tiny community disappeared without leaving any clues as to where it went or when. Some believe the earth swallowed them up. Others claim that a meteorite hit destroyed it. Some believe that it was taken by aliens.

Whatever happened, the residents of this once-thriving community are convinced that their town isn't gone forever. They had just moved from one town to the other.

You can even track the disappearance of Zugspitz on a dedicated website.

The question is, where did this place go? It's in Switzerland, actually!

You can find Zugspitze at the border of Austria and Germany. A huge lake, Lake Zugspitze, is located just beyond the summit.

It has always fascinated and astonished me to see how many towns have vanished but still exist. Why does some vanish while others remain? I decided to investigate.

I was curious about the disappearing towns. What causes a town to disappear? What makes a place disappear?

It turned out that there are many theories about disappearing towns. One theory suggests that a community disappears when all of its buildings are removed. Another theory states that the town simply moves to another location. A third theory claims that the town never existed at all.

Although theories may be a bit speculative, it is a fact that numerous towns have been destroyed by the elements. This video explores the history of these towns and examines their current state.
