FAQ

How does the brain regulate the functions of the body?

To ensure that they work together, messages are sent by the brain to other organs. Your brain controls all that happens in your body. It tells your stomach how to digest food and your lungs how to inhale oxygen; it also tells your arms, legs and feet to move.

Your brain is composed of billions and billions nerve cells, connected in groups called neurons. Neurons communicate by sending electrical signals, called action potentials, on axons. Each neuron has its own cell membrane around its nucleus. The cell membrane houses channels that allow ions, such as potassium and sodium, to enter and exit the cells. The electric charge that causes the neuron's fire is created by ion movement.

Neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that release neurotransmitters when a neuron fires up, can be found in the space between the neurons and the next one. Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the second neuron, opening ion channels so ions can pass in and out of the channel. In turn, the second neuron also fires.

Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds at the receptors of the post-synaptic Neuron and triggers its firing.

Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They also help coordinate activity between different parts of the brain.

Which is the most mysterious spot on Earth?

Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth.

Why is this place so amazing? It is unlike any other place on Earth.

It is isolated, remote, and very hard to visit. It is not what you see.

This natural wonder is also home to some of the strangest wildlife species.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica is named for no one. Others believe it means "land with ice". Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.

Antarktis was an ancient Greek name that was given to the island where Zeus and his twin brothers, Zeus. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. Therefore, the name antarctic.

Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would translate to land that is turned away from the sun.

Whatever the reason Antarctica has always been a fascination for people.

It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. Because it is too frigid, there are no trees, animals, or plants.

Yet, this frozen wasteland is alive.

It houses approximately 90% of all Earth's living organisms. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.

And what makes Antarctica such a unique environment? Here, water freezes and becomes ice instead of evaporated into the air.

This causes large masses to form of ice which float high above the ground.

These glaciers are responsible for covering 80% of the continent. They continue to grow in size each year.

Since 1960, the Antarctic ice sheets has grown 60ft.

If the melting continues, the sea level will rise by up to 200 feet. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

This does not mean that everyone is wrong. Some scientists claim that global warming could be good for us. According to scientists, global warming could be good for us because the melting of the ice sheets will accelerate, which can lead to floods that release toxic chemicals into our soil and bodies.

Others, however, warn that this theory sounds almost like a plot for a science fiction film.

Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?

According to the United Nations there are more than 25 billion tons of garbage produced each year.

Most of the trash ends up at incinerators and landfills. But, what happens to those dumpsters? All that trash ends up being shipped out of country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. Mike Sexton is his real name. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.

Sexton claims he is very satisfied with his job. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.

"It's all I felt," he stated.

Sexton's favorite story was about a driver who stopped at an abandoned gas station in Los Angeles. Sexton said that the man was searching for a place to store his stuff. "He saw the building as he drove down the road. He pulled over and went in. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "Then he looked at the place and decided to unload everything. There were old tires and rags, furniture pieces, mattresses, mattresses and boxes. It was a complete mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There wasn't any trash."

Why did this happen? Well, the answer is that this particular location used to be part of a recycling center.People who learned about this facility would drive here to recycle their trash. Sexton said that people would bring their household items to the building and then leave empty containers behind.

It can happen hundreds of thousands of times per week. It can happen hundreds of time per week. Eventually, the truck is so full of junk it stops running. The owner finally decides to stop using the truck.

However, trash is not the only problem on our planet.

Plastic pieces make up most of these particles. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts say if nothing changes, we could soon face a global food shortage. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.

What are some dark secrets in Hollywood?

Hollywood is full secret societies. There are secret societies that are more cult-like than others. They have members who follow specific rules and rituals. While some are clubs for those with similar interests, others are not.

There are also other, more evil organizations that control large parts of the industry. Companies such as the MPAA, which determines film ratings, or the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), that set music licensing fees, are examples of these.

Numerous unions and guilds also represent actors, directors, writers, producers, etc. These large corporations control the majority of major film studios and television networks.

It doesn't really matter how secretive an organization may appear, there is always someone who knows exactly what they do. We shouldn't fear these people.

Instead, embrace them. Because they give us information that allows us to make better decisions.

They also tell us about the movies that are most likely to succeed and which songs are most popular.

These help us to decide what we'll watch, read, listen, and buy.

We can trust our advisors and ignore advice that isn't in accord with our tastes.

They are more powerful than ever because we chose to ignore them. They are the ultimate judges of taste.

You can ignore them if they don't agree with you.

Let's take a closer look at some of the less-known, yet still very real Hollywood secret clubs.

You'll see why they are so important.

How To

Hollywood scandals that shocked the world

There's nothing more shocking than watching someone become famous for the wrong reasons. There's nothing more shocking than watching someone fall from grace.

The best thing about watching how an industry reacts when it makes mistakes is the best part. We've all heard stories of celebrities who used drugs and alcohol excessively. Some even died young because of it.

The worst thing is when these stars are made public about their problems and shunned. That's where we found ourselves last week.

Heath Ledger died after a long, successful career. He took too many prescription pills and died shortly after.

His friends and family struggled to accept the loss of his son, while the media blasted him openly.

Heath was once regarded as one of the best actors today. Two Academy Awards nominations went to Heath for his performance on Brokeback Mountain.

Heath did more than act. He also directed films including A Knight's Tale. Monster's Ball and Iron Man.

Hollywood loved Heath. However, he quickly grew too large. He began using drugs and drinking heavily. He was eventually able to get clean and went to rehab.

After he had gotten sober, he decided to make amends. So he made a documentary called "Room 237," which chronicled the making of The Shining. It was supposed to hit theaters this year. However, it won't until next year.

Heath tried many times to get back into Hollywood. Nothing worked. He was actually arrested twice for drug charges.

We don't believe Heath should have been allowed to go back into the entertainment industry. However, it would be nice if he could get some help before things spiral out of control.

We hope Heath’s story can be an example to other people who believe they can still have it all.
