FAQ
What is the most mysterious area on earth?
Antarctica is home to the most mysterious and remote place on Earth.
What is it that makes this place so interesting? Because it is unlike any other spot on Earth.
It is remote, isolated, and extremely difficult to visit. This site has more to it than meets your eye.
You will also find some of the oddest wildlife species in this natural wonder.
So let's explore how this remarkable destination became famous for its mystery.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica's name is a mystery. Some believe it means "land of ice." Others believe it comes from Greek mythology.
Antarktis, the Greek name for the island on which Zeus' twin brothers were conceived, was used in ancient Greece. According to legend, one twin was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.
Others believe that the name comes from the Greek words anti meaning against and tropos meaning to turn. This would mean that the land was turned away by the sun.
No matter the reason, Antarctica is a place that has always fascinated people.
It is the coldest, windiest, driest and highest continent. It is too cold to support trees, plants, and animals.
Yet, the frozen desert is alive with life.
About 90 percent of all living things on Earth live here. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What is Antarctica? Here water freezes to ice and not evaporates into the atmosphere.
This causes large masses to form of ice which float high above the ground.
These floating glaciers cover 80% of the continent. They are growing in size every year.
The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.
The sea level could rise to 200 feet if the melting continues. This could lead to massive flooding across the globe.
This does not mean that everyone is wrong. Global warming may be beneficial for some scientists. According to scientists, global warming could be good for us because the melting of the ice sheets will accelerate, which can lead to floods that release toxic chemicals into our soil and bodies.
But others warn that this theory sounds like a plot from a science fiction movie.
Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?
According to the United Nations, the average person produces over 2.5 pounds of daily waste. That adds up to over 25 billion pounds of garbage per year!
Most of this rubbish ends up in landfills or incinerators. But, what happens when those dumpsters fill up? Most of that trash is shipped out of the country. The rest is dumped abroad, where it pollutes other ecosystems. Now, we know the exact location of all this garbage. Mike Sexton is his name. He runs Waste Watchers, a company that monitors the movements of trucks carrying trash all across North America. He then gives us a report on what happens next.
Sexton stated that he finds the job very satisfying. CNN's Sexton said, "We have a lot to enjoy." "We'll be following these big rigs through town. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.
He stated, "I just fell in Love with It."
Sexton loved the story about the driver who pulled over at an abandoned gas station close to Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He saw the building as he drove down the road. So he backed up and went inside. "There were two enormous roll-off containers filled with stuff. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were tires, rags. furniture, mattresses. boxes, bottles, cans. "It was just total chaos. But it had been cleaned before he arrived. There was no trash."
This is the reason why it happened. The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton said that people would bring their household items to the building and then leave empty containers behind.
It can happen hundreds of thousands of times per week. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The truck eventually stops running and the owner decides that it is time to get rid of the vehicle.
Trash, however, isn't the only problem facing our planet. As you may have noticed, things are getting worse.According to experts, pollution levels have risen dramatically in recent years.More than half of all water bodies on Earth are polluted.Pollution from industrial chemicals has increased by more than 30 percent since 1980.Even the air we breathe is becoming increasingly toxic.A study by the World Health Organization found that the average person inhales around 100 million particles daily.
Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Some are washed into rivers and oceans. Others end up with fish in their stomachs.
Experts warn of a possible global food crisis if nothing is done. "If we keep going like we're going, we're not going to make it," one expert warned. But even though scientists agree that the world is headed toward disaster, most people don't seem worried.
How does the brain control the functions in your body?
The brain sends messages to other organs and muscles to ensure they work together. Your body's functions are controlled by your brain. It tells the stomach to digest food, and the lungs to breath air. It also tells your legs and arms to move.
Your brain is made of billions, or neurons, of nerve cells. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Each neuron has a cell membrane surrounding its nucleus. The membrane contains channels that allow ions like sodium and potassium to enter the cell and leave it. Ion movement creates the electric charge that causes the neuron to fire.
Neurotransmitters, chemical substances that are released when a neuron fires. Neurotransmitters can bind to receptors at the second neuron. They open ions channels, allowing ions to move in and outside of the channel. This causes the second neuron to fire too.
Neurotransmitter releases occur when a presynaptic neurons receives an input from another neuron. The impulse travels along the synaptic pathway that connects both neurons. The transmitter binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, triggering the firing of the postsynaptic neuron.
Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They coordinate brain activity among different parts.
Why do actors end up on the blacklist?
An actor is more likely to get rejected than a writer. You will likely be rejected many times if you are an actor. However, it doesn't really matter as you will eventually meet someone who is truly your love.
Actors are usually very talented, meaning they can make a living almost anywhere. But most actors don't want to make a lot of money. Actors love acting and storytelling. If you are an actor, you will most likely put yourself out there.
You might even go to auditions where you're told that you're too old, too young, or not right for the role. Or you might audition for a movie and lose out to another person. It happens all the times.
You may be criticised once your casting is complete. Many people will tell you you look horrible or that you shouldn't be wearing make-up. If you're lucky, you won't even hear negative comments.
Sometimes, you might be criticised for playing a role that isn’t authentic or realistic. Perhaps you play a homosexual man and everyone thinks that you're straight. You could also play a woman with a tendency to cry a lot, even though she's supposed to be tough.
Sometimes, they ask you to change your voice. Sometimes they ask you to sound like either a boy or a girl. They want you to sound better most of the time.
It is best to ignore these criticisms. Actors can feel like they have failed when they are told they did something wrong. They haven't done any wrong.
They just weren't born with the talent that made them famous. They may not fit the bill sometimes, no mater how hard they try.
Blacklisting can happen for many reasons. Some people don't like actors. Others feel that actors are lazy. Some actors may be cheaters.
No matter the reason, it is important to remember that you will not be blacklisted if there are other jobs available. There are plenty of jobs available and you'll find them.
If you persevere, you will eventually succeed.
