Menwith Hill Royal Air Force Station
Menwith Hill Royal Air Force Station hosts US drone operations. These missions are largely secret and are used to target terrorists around the world. They can also be used to monitor calls, emails and Google searches. The base has been operational since 1954 and previous British governments have reportedly cooperated. MPs have been denied access repeatedly to the base.
Menwith Hill was involved with a variety of "capture and kill" operations. Snowden's documents don't reveal the details of these fatal incidents, but it is clear the base was used to kill hundreds of civilians over the past decade. It has played a critical role in drone strikes in Yemen.
North Sentinel Island
Since 1997, North Sentinel's remote island has been completely isolated from the outside world. Because of the risk of spreading diseases from other countries, contact with the island was banned by the Indian government. The people of the island are not open to strangers. They have lived in solitude for more than 50,000 year. The Sentinelese desire their island to remain that way.

Although the estimated population is somewhere between eighty-150 and 150, it could actually be much higher. They speak a unique dialect and live under slanted roofs in huts. They also build their own narrow outrigger canoes and carry bows and arrows. They hunt for food, and harvest crabs as well as fish.
Baikal
Lake Baikal in Siberia has the deepest water level in the world. It's also the oldest. It is home to over 1,700 species. Nearly 33% are found only in the Lake. Scientists from all over the world have joined their Soviet counterparts in an ambitious research program.
Although Lake Baikal's water is clean, some pollutants can cause it to become contaminated. These contaminants are transported up the food-chain by the small creatures Epischura, which live near the lake. They are then absorbed by larger fish. The endemic fish of Lake Baikal include nerpa, omul and golumyanka.
Mount Weather complex
The Mount Weather complex has been Washington's most secretive location for many decades. FAQ
What dark secrets are there in Hollywood?
Hollywood is full of secret societies. Many secret societies are cult-like and follow rigid rules. Others are just clubs for people with common interests.
However, there are many other criminal organizations that hold much of the industry's power. These include companies like the MPAA ("Motion Picture Association of America"), which determines film ratings. The RIAA ("Recording Industry Association of America") sets music licensing fees.
Numerous unions or guilds also represent producers, writers, actors, etc. Most major movie studios and television networks are owned by large corporations which own these various organizations.
It is obvious that, no matter how secretive or obtuse a group appears, someone knows exactly what they do. However, we shouldn't fear them.
Instead, we should embrace them. Because they can help us make better decisions.
These people tell us what movies and songs will succeed, and which books will sell best.
They are, in short, what help us choose what we will watch, read and listen too.
We can trust their advice and we can ignore it if it contradicts our values.
And because we've chosen to ignore them, they become even more powerful. They are the ultimate arbiters and judges of taste.
And if you don't like what they say, you're free to ignore them.
Let's take a closer look at some of the less-known, yet still very real Hollywood secret clubs.
And you'll understand why they're so crucial.
Do you wonder how much trash is produced each day across the globe?
The United Nations estimates that the average person generates more than 2.5 pounds of waste each day. This adds up to over 25 million pounds of garbage annually!
The majority of this garbage ends up in incinerators or landfills. But what happens when the dumpsters become full? It goes to the United States, where most of it is exported. The trash is then sent out of the country and dumped in countries where it pollutes ecosystems. But, one man has now discovered exactly where this rubbish goes. Mike Sexton is his full name. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.
Sexton said he enjoys his job. CNN spoke with Sexton that they have a lot fun. "You know, we see these big rigs come through town, and we'll follow them. "Sexton began following truck drivers almost 20 years ago.
He stated, "I just fell in Love with It."
Sexton's favorite story was about a driver who stopped at an abandoned gas station in Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the street and saw this building. So he pulled over and went inside. "There was a pair of large, full-sized roll-off boxes. He took out everything and began to fill up the truck. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just a total mess. But it had been cleared out before he arrived. There was not a single piece of trash.
Why did this happen? The answer is that this location was once part of a recycling facility. People who knew about it would drive to this location to recycle their garbage. Sexton explained that people would bring home their household items, and then take them to the building. After they were done, they would dispose of the empty containers.
You might see this happen hundreds of times a day. This can happen hundreds of times a week.Eventually, the truck becomes so overloaded with junk that it stops running. The truck eventually stops running and the owner decides that it is time to get rid of the vehicle.
Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.
Many of these tiny plastic pieces end up in landfills and incinerators. Some of these plastics end up in rivers or oceans.
Experts warn that if there is no change, the world could soon be facing a food shortage. Experts warn that "if we keep going the way we are, we're not going make it," although scientists agree that the world is heading toward disaster. Most people, however, don't seem to be concerned.
How does your brain control the functions within your body?
The brain relays messages to other parts of the body to ensure their functionality. Everything that happens within your body is controlled by the brain. It tells your stomach to digest food and your lungs to breathe air; it tells your arms and legs to move.
Your brain is composed of billions and billions nerve cells, connected in groups called neurons. Action potentials are electrical signals that neurons send to one another. Each neuron is covered by a cell membrane. The cell membrane houses channels that allow ions, such as potassium and sodium, to enter and exit the cells. The neuron is lit by an electric charge created by the movement of ions.
When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the second neuron, opening ion channels so ions can pass in and out of the channel. In turn, the second neuron also fires.
When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. The impulse travels along an synapse between the neurons. The transmitter binds with the receptors of the postsynaptic nerve, activating the firing of the postsynaptic neurons.
Neurotransmitters are important for communication within the nervous system. They are also responsible for coordinating activity between various parts of the brain.
What is the most mysterious area on earth?
Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.
We find this place so fascinating. Because it is unlike any other spot on Earth.
It is very remote and isolated. This site has more to it than meets your eye.
Some of the most bizarre wildlife species can also be found in this natural wonder.
So let's explore how this remarkable destination became famous for its mystery.
Antarctica: The South Pole
Antarctica is not known by anyone. Some believe it means "land of ice." Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.
Antarktis was an ancient Greek name that was given to the island where Zeus and his twin brothers, Zeus. According to some legends, one of these twins was born in winter. The term antarctic is derived from this.
Others believe the name was derived from the Greek words tropos, which means turn, and anti, meaning against. This would signify land turned away the sun.
No matter the reason, Antarctica is a place that has always fascinated people.
It is the highest, coldest, windiest, dryest, and most populated continent. It is too cold for trees, plants and animals.
Yet, life is abundant in this frozen wilderness.
It houses approximately 90% of all Earth's living organisms. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.
What is Antarctica? Here water freezes to ice and not evaporates into the atmosphere.
This causes large masses to form of ice which float high above the ground.
These floating glaciers cover over 80%. They are growing in size every year.
Since 1960, the Antarctic ice sheets has grown 60ft.
The sea level will rise up to 200 feet if melting continues. This could lead to widespread flooding.
Not everyone believes this is bad news. Global warming may be beneficial for some scientists. They believe that global warming will lead to melting ice sheets faster and floods that can flush toxic chemicals out of our soils and bodies.
However, others caution that this theory sounds a lot like a plot in a science fiction movie.

How To
Secret societies and clubs in American history
Many reasons make American History's secret societies and clubs fascinating. Another reason is the mystery that surrounds them. Their effect on society is another reason.
American history has seen secret societies and clubs used to promote ideas that were otherwise taboo. Anti-Semitism, racism, and other ideas are just a few of the many examples. These groups also contributed to the spread of political ideologies, such as communism & socialism.
The Ku Klux Klan, the most famous American organization, is also the most important. This group was founded in 1865 following the Civil War. Its mission was to protect white males from African Americans.
Other organizations that were created in this period include the Knights Templar (Freemasons), and Odd Fellows. These organizations shared the same beliefs and goals.
Another interesting thing about secret societies is the fact that membership was often restricted to males. However, these groups had some female members. These women were Emma Goldman and Margaret Sanger as well as Susan B Anthony.
Other secret societies, aside from the ones mentioned, did not share the same ideals. The Order of Skull & Bones is an example of a secret society that was established in 1832. Their goal, however, was to create an elite section within the United States.
