The Explorers Club, a multidisciplinary professional association that promotes scientific exploration, is multidisciplinary. It was founded by seven prominent polar explorers in 1904. The Explorers Journal's first edition was published in November 1921 by the club. It is still published quarterly today.

The Explorers Club's members include some of most influential and renowned explorers. Buzz Aldrin, Jeff Bezos and James Cameron are just a few of the many explorers who make up the Explorers Club. The Explorers Journal, a journal of the club, is also available for members to contribute. This journal contains first-hand reporting and information from those who are pushing human endurance and knowledge boundaries.

The headquarters of the club are located on East 70th Street in Manhattan in a Jacobean revival home. Stephen Clark, heir to the Singer Sewing Machine fortune lived in this building.

FAQ

What is the most mysterious area on earth?

Antarctica is considered the most mysterious area on Earth.

This is why we find it so captivating. Because it is unlike any other spot on Earth.

It is very remote and isolated. But there is more to this site than meets the eye.

You'll also find the strangest species of wildlife in this natural wonder.

Let's look at how this extraordinary destination became so mysterious.

Antarctica: The South Pole

Antarctica's name is a mystery. Others believe it means "land with ice". Others believe it comes out of Greek mythology.

Antarktis in ancient Greece was the name given the island where Zeus' twin brother brothers were born. According to legend, one of the twins was born in winter. Therefore, the name antarctic.

Others think the name came from the Greek words anti, meaning against, and tropos meaning turn. This would signify land turned away the sun.

Whatever the reason, Antarctica has always held a special fascination for people.

It is also the lowest, windiest continent, driest, and highest. It is too cold for trees, plants and animals.

Yet, the frozen desert is alive with life.

Here are about 90% of all the living creatures on Earth. About 50% of the world's plant and animal species can be found here.

What is Antarctica? Here, water freezes into ice instead of evaporating into the air.

This causes large amounts of ice to float above ground.

These glaciers cover more than 80% of the continent. And they're growing larger every year.

The Antarctic ice sheet has grown 60ft since 1960.

If the melting continues, sea level could rise up to 200ft. That could cause massive flooding around the globe.

This is not necessarily bad news. Some scientists believe that global warming can be beneficial. According to scientists, global warming could be good for us because the melting of the ice sheets will accelerate, which can lead to floods that release toxic chemicals into our soil and bodies.

But others warn that this theory sounds like a plot from a science fiction movie.

What is the most secretive place in the world, and why?

The answer may shock you. It might even make you uncomfortable because it challenges our perception of reality and how we live. But there is a reason that this place exists. It isn't what you would expect.

The City of God was its name by the ancient Greeks. In the Bible, it was known as the City of Destruction.

In India, it's called Kashi (Kashmir). In Russia, it's called Novgorod.

However, in America it is called The Town that Disappeared.

One tiny town in western New York State lost its 1,200 inhabitants without trace. It was abandoned without any remains, including no bodies, cars, or houses. The only thing that survived was a road sign, which pointed to its former location.

The little village vanished, with no trace of its existence. Some believe the earth swallowed them up. Others believe it was destroyed by a meteorite. Others believe that aliens took it.

The residents of this once prosperous community believe that whatever happened, their town is not gone forever. They had just moved to another town.

You can even track the disappearance of Zugspitz on a dedicated website.

The question is, where did this place go? Well, it's in Switzerland!

Zugspitze lies on the border between Austria and Germany. Lake Zugspitze lies just above the summit of the mountain.

It's always fascinated me how so many towns disappear, yet others remain. Why is it that some disappear while others live on? I decided to investigate.

I was interested in learning more about these mysterious towns that are disappearing. What causes a community to disappear? How can one place vanish from existence?

There are several theories behind the disappearing of towns. One theory is that a city disappears after all buildings have been demolished. Another theory suggests that the town simply moves somewhere else. The third theory is that the town was never actually there.

No matter what theories you may have, there is no doubt that many towns across the globe were swallowed by the ground. This video examines the history and current status of these places.

Ever wonder how much trash gets produced each day around the world?

According to the United Nations, the average person produces over 2.5 pounds of daily waste. That adds up to over 25 billion pounds of garbage per year!

Most of the trash ends up at incinerators and landfills. But, what happens to those dumpsters? Where does all that rubbish go?Well, most of it gets shipped out of the country. It is then dumped in other countries, where it pollutes their ecosystems. But now, thanks to the work of one man, we know exactly where all this trash goes. Mike Sexton is his nickname. He owns a company called Waste Watchers. He spends his time watching trucks hauling trash around North America. Then he reports back to us about what happens next.

Sexton states that he finds his work very fulfilling. CNN interviewed Sexton and said that he has a lot of fun. "We see these big trucks coming through town, so we'll keep following them. "Sexton began following truckers almost 20 year ago.

He stated that he fell in love with the product.

He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. Sexton described, "The guy was looking somewhere to put his load." "He drove down the road and saw this building. So he backed up and went inside. "There were 2 large containers that had been rolled off, and they were full of stuff. The guy took everything out and started filling up the truck again. He then looked around and decided to load everything. There were many old tires, furniture, rags and mattresses. "It was just total chaos. But it was cleaned out before he came. There was no trash."

What is the explanation? It is because the location used to belong to a recycling centre. People who found out about this facility would drive to it to recycle their trash. "They'd bring their household items and take them to this building," Sexton explained. And after they finished, they would leave the empty containers behind.

This could happen hundreds of time per week. The truck can be stopped running if it is so full of junk that it has to come back hundreds of times per week. The owner eventually abandons the vehicle.

Trash is not the only problem our planet faces.

Most of these particles are made up of tiny pieces of plastic. Some of these plastics end up in landfills or incinerators. Others get washed into rivers or oceans. And when they reach the ocean, they often end up in the stomachs of fish.

Experts warn that if there is no change, the world could soon be facing a food shortage. Experts warn that if we continue to go the same way, we won't make it. However, scientists and most people aren't worried.

How does the brain control the functions in your body?

To ensure that they work together, messages are sent by the brain to other organs. Your body's functions are controlled by your brain. It tells you your stomach to digest food; your lungs to inhale air; and it tells you your arms and legs how to move.

Your brain is composed of billions and billions nerve cells, connected in groups called neurons. Action potentials on Axons are an electrical signal that neurons send to each other. Each neuron has its own cell membrane around its nucleus. The cell membrane houses channels that allow ions, such as potassium and sodium, to enter and exit the cells. Ion movement creates the electric charge that causes the neuron to fire.

When a neuron fires, chemicals called neurotransmitters are released into the space between the neuron and the next neuron. Neurotransmitters attach to the receptors of the second neuron and open ions channels for ions to pass in and out. As a result, second neuron fires as well.

When a presynaptic nerve receives an impulse, neurotransmitter release takes place. The impulse travels along the synapse connecting the two neurons. The transmitter binds at the receptors of the post-synaptic Neuron and triggers its firing.

The nervous system relies on neurotransmitters for communication. They are also responsible for coordinating activity between various parts of the brain.
