He loved the story of the driver who pulled into an abandoned gas station near Los Angeles. "The guy was looking for someplace to put his load," Sexton recalled. "He drove along the road and saw this structure. He stopped and pulled up, then he went inside. "There were two huge roll-off containers there filled with stuff. The man got everything out of the truck and began filling it up again. "The man looked around the area and decided to unload all of it. There were a bunch of old tires, rags, furniture, mattresses, boxes, bottles, cans, and whatever else. "It was a complete mess. But it had been cleaned out before he came along. There was no trash."
So why did this happen? It is because the location used to belong to a recycling centre. People who found out about this facility would drive to it to recycle their trash. Sexton said that people would bring their household items to the building and then leave empty containers behind.
This could happen hundreds of time per week. This could happen hundreds times per week. Finally, the truck stops running completely due to its excessive junk. The owner eventually decides to dump the truck.
Trash isn’t the only problem we face on the planet.
